If you didn't hate MTV enough...
This week at the CES 2002 show and expo in Las Vegas, there was a new device that MTV is sticking it's name on. It's an MP3 player that utilizes that Data Play disk that came out last year. I really didn't mind this device so much but then I read something really bad. MTV is marketing PCs now. The PC will enable the user to watch MTV programming, cable, DVD and surf the web. These PCs will run about $1800 but the deal has not been finalized. Makes you kind of sick, huh? Read more here

More jobs in 2002?
I read this from Tech Tv's Web site today: Technology giant Motorola, slashing costs in its loss-making semiconductor operations, said on Thursday it will cut 1,200 to 1,300 chip manufacturing jobs in Austin, Texas, and Sendai, Japan, as part of a move to consolidate production at its other plants.

I won't go on, I just felt like saying it's not looking that good folks. Read more here

New WebTV Unit? What does it do?
I was just reading on The Register about the new WebTV unit. I scratched my head and I wondered what could you do with a box that is not so much needed among the cheap computers that you can get.

Well, WebTV founder Steve Perlman today takes the wraps off his latest marvel, a do-it-all home entertainment centre called the Moxio Media Center. It will play MP3's and will also have some TiVo like capabilities. I would like to support a device like this but it seems like "Hey, that kid has an earing, I want an earing too!" Don't copy the big boys, innovate. Anyone can make a PTR.
