Something that will make you laugh
I was unaware that this has happened but, a a London-based activist organization Privacy International gave out awards this week.
The "Worst Government Official" award went to Ashcroft. Privacy International said the top U.S. law enforcement officer is responsible for a massive increase in wiretapping of phones and other electronics and for the imprisonment without charge of as many as 1,200 people in the United States after the Sept. 11 attacks on America.
The "Worst Corporate Invader" honor went to Ellison of Oracle, the leading maker of database software, for his advocacy of a centralized, Oracle-run government database that could be used as a national identification system.
Thank god George Orwell still inspires some of us.
It hit bugrtraq, now it's on CNet
I am talking about the popular hacker tool today called Fragroute. Arbor Networks security researcher Dug Song posted the tool to his Web site this week.
The Fragroute program is a dual-use program: It illuminates weaknesses in a network's security--information that can aid a system administrator in protecting the network or helping a hacker attack the network. The program exploits several ways of inserting specific data into a sequence of information in order to fool detection programs. The methods were highlighted in a January 1998 paper written by Thomas Ptacek and Timothy Newsham of Secure Networks, a company later bought by Network Associates.

Sometimes I like my email
Riccochet just sent out an update. They stated that all is going well in the tests they have been doing in Denver and they are still using their lowered price structure. I headed back to the Riccochet website and saw that they state "Our most immediate plans include cities in Califoria and Colorado...". All I can say is fucking Yay!
I love hacker-script-kiddies
Hey little lamers, do you need a baby sitter? I was reading my email today and some lamer sent mail (not to well disguised) as events@defcon.org to defcontrip@moloch.org. They attached a batch file to it as a little virus I guess, overriding IE's settings and such. Hey silly kiddie, I don't use microsoft! I caught ya and now revenge is going to rock. Na-na-nana-na! I am gonna get you.
Folks, Stay away from this
I was just asked today about DVD recording and the person directed me to a site
http://www.copymydvd.com/. People do not fall for scams like this, it is not DVD recording what they are promisong you, it is VCD recording. It is not worth the $40 they want to charge you either. VCD recording info is all over the place. There is no way on making DVDs in your CDR drive. You can only make compatable formats that will play in some DVD players.
How quick can you do it?
Tech TV's Screensavers show is setting up two boxes for Friday for a "Hacker Challenge". I hear that they are supposed to build one XP box and one Linux box. The challange is supposed to take place on Friday at 4pm I believe. I will be stuck at the office but maybe I will get a chance to play. If anyone breaks the security, let us know.

Damn you FDA! I need my Lolie!
Well if you haven't heard, there was a nicotine lolipop for smokers who would like to quit. I would like to see if they could get me through my hell-ish day at work. Anyway, it seems mthat the FDA has nixed the idea of this being approved. They issued their warning and the drug stores removed them from sale. Back to booze I guess.
New Moloch TV Videos
Two new videos have been added to
Moloch TV. Ron Gula in a talk about High Speed IDS and Optyx talks about Buffer Overflowns. Both of these videos where shot at Atlantacon. We should have the full talk of Sir Dystic regarding Man in the Middle attacks online soon. All of the moloch videos are available on VCD for a small $5.50 charge. Just think, you can watch stuff on your computer or DVD player. Why not buy 10 of them.
