Yet another Conf tommEE wasn't asked to go to
A Roadmap to a Safer Wireless World is the newest gathering that they will hold about wireless security. The exception, it's an invite only, behind closed doors planning session in Washington DC. It will start on Monday and end on Wednesday. CNet wrote " This will be a private meeting because of the sensitive nature of the topics being discussed, he said. The group will make public a report on issues and suggested answers to them later this year." I wonder if I could sniff any traffic from within the halls of the building. Read more

Tonight is 2600
That's right fans, it's time to hang out with hackers in most of the cities around the world. In just a couple of hours, the Moloch folks in NYC will be meeting at the Citicorp building and later tonight I will be heading to the meeting in downtown LA. So, let me shout out to all the people who don't see me in New York meetings anymore and wish you were here enjoying the weather.
Best Buy closes wireless registers
I wasn't aware of the problem until MSNBC posted it yesterday but they posted:
May 1 - Think you are safe from the cryptic world of wireless computer hacking? Think again. Security researchers who study wireless networks have found another embarrassing information leak, this one involving well-known retail giants. Some stores use cash registers with wireless networks that beam data - including credit card numbers - to a central computer elsewhere in the store. But a hacker can sit in a store's parking lot and "listen in" to the data. Indeed, consumer electronics retailer Best Buy Co. shut off wireless cash registers at its stores Wednesday after being alerted to the potential problem, saying it was investigating the issue.
Some TV shows suck, some I can even get anymore.
I was browsing around that silly internet thing looking back at some of the shows I used to watch on the Cable networks. Some of them are still out there but I have lost interest in and the others have been bought, sold or faded away.
Digital Duo is still around, not in the LA area but an east coast show. It was just filler for me.
TV.com, a CNet show, was on broadcast TV and was pretty good. I don't know the reasoning behing the disappearance.
The Site, used to be on MSNBC before the CNet/ZDTV/TechTV mixings, I liked this show. The animated character Dev Null was kinda a good part of the show and Soledad O'Brien, well, was hot.
Net Talk Live used to pay to be on TV I think, it was ok, they did cover some good issues sometimes. It did have a cheesy format though.
CNet Central Used to be on regular TV until they changed it into News.com TV. It was cool but had a wierd format.
The Web was another CNet show on the broadcast dial. This was geared more for the beginner computer person.
The New Edge was a technology show that basically introduced science and tech stuff. Not that great, but also introduced by CNET.
News.com TV was on MSNBC and produced by CNet. It was focused more on business and IPOs and died as quickly as dot-coms did.
Now look at what we watch:
Computer Chronicals Good PBS program but a little dry and
Tech TV.
All of this just gets me more excited about launching the second phase of
Moloch TV it's going to make you look slimmer and shine with new volume.
Ooh Yea!, I am glad there is more crack for my friends
A new version of Everquest coming out in 2003. I wonder how many Everquest people will have killed themselves by then.
"EverQuest II," which is slated to arrive in December 2003, will feature a new 3D engine and will allow gamers to own real estate, ride horses, command ships, and use new, enhanced spells, quests and events.
More than 400,000 subscribers pay a subscription fee of $12.95 a month for access to the huge virtual world where the game takes place. Now that is disturbing.

Bah, I never liked your music anyway
Eminem is considering to incorporate copy-protection technology into all upcoming CD releases of "The Eminem Show," marking the biggest move yet to protect its top acts from music piracy. Now, there are proven techniques of ways of getting the music off of these type of CDs already but it doens't make Copy Protection should be on the CD anyway. I paid for the music, I should be able to do what I want with it, not just what the record companies say. It doesn't end here, look at the internet radio scene. Stand up people and be counted.

My firends have talked about it, now it's Slashdot
Max Headroom is coming back to the Television screen. For those who don't remember the original air dates, or the FX airings, or the Sci Fi channel, you will now get your chance to view this classic. I am not knocking the show itself but the last ditch efforts for Tech TV to get ratings. I do love Tech TV also, but ever since it changed from ZDTV to Tech TV ala Cnet style, it started that downhill journey. I hope they drop some of the stupid shows. like Cybercrime (Virii shouldn't take a 30 minute show over) and Tomorrows World (it just makes me sleep). Pat and Leo, you guys Rock! Martin, you are cool. Adam, you do a good job. Die Chris.
