Wow, from what I remember, it was fun
It appears we got through the fourth without any big problems. It was kind of wierd the day starting with a shooting at LAX but that was the only terror-like problem it seems. I spent most of the day and night with the 23.org people at ID4CON. We barbequed, drank, shot fireworks and watched movies on the big screen. It was a fun gathering. See some of the pictures here

Wanna keep your streaming radio?
Iain McLeod who lives outside the US is helping the streaming radio or otherwise know net-radio scene stay alive. It's a shame that it online radio stations might leave the internet. His software is designed to let people create online radio stations that are difficult for the authorities to trace. I don't know how hard it is to trace a online radio station since to listen to them, all you do it click. Maybe his software won't beacon so that you have to know the IP that the radio station. This could be the reason they are calling it "pirate radio". Since in pirate radio, they don't really advertise. Read more here

Another Mitnick book... This one is by him.
There are a lot of stories about Kevin Mitnick. He is pretty well known. He's been in the papers, the news, movies and even jailed. Well the ex-hacker has now written a book. It is called The Art of Deception. The book is said to be fiction but goes on to explain what hackers can do to Social Engineer your trust from you. It has been said that this book will not cover any new ground but I am assuming that this will be one of those tools to inspire the management to be a little more paraniod about hackers. I cannot comment weather this is a good thing or not but I will look forward to reading the book. I do love this picture though.

Gateway joins in the silver computer scene
It appears after so many fads, we are entering one that is sure to go out of style also. We saw lots of translucent plastics the last couple of years. Now the fad seems to be metal, lots of platnum looking computers. Apple did it. Theres PC cases that are all metal, now Gateway moves into the scene. Will this boost Gateways sales? I don't know. Will it improve their product, I somehow doubt that. I have used Gateway computers in the past, I thought it would be a good computer vendor for a small company to be out fitted with, It turned out, I had more problems with Gateway than I did with the Compaq Pressarios. Stick with that goofy kid from Dell that is totally annoying, their computers don't need flair. Read more here.
