Bloomberg approval rating around 25% wonder why?
From NY1:
City Hall denies ordering a ticket blitz to raise cash for the city, but an informal survey of police officers says otherwise.
Among 200 officers interviewed by the Daily News, 65 percent said they felt “a lot” or “some pressure” to issue tickets. The punishments for not meeting quotas, according to the officers who talked to the paper, include the denial of requests for days off and overtime shifts taken away.
Many of the officers said they wrote tickets they knew would be thrown out in court.
The officers also told the News that morale in the Police Department is low. They complained that the public has forgotten their heroics after the World Trade Center attack and their steady track record of reducing crime.
Police officials questioned the survey's credibility, according to the News.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly have denied that police officers have been given ticket quotas, citing an overall drop in the total number of tickets issued this year.
