Kevin Mitnick plays on the Internet againSo, I am watching Tech TV and the Screensavers have guest Kevin Mitnick on the show again. This time, is to celebrate the end of his probation and welcome him back to using computers and the Internet. There were two other guests on the show, Emmanual Goldstein and Steve Wozniak. Emmanual gave Kevin a book and bottle of champange. Woz did the better thing by giving Kevin Mitnick a new Apple Laptop. I don't know where the money goes that Emmanuel gets from 2600, H2K and H2K Videos he's selling. Maybe I should be thankful that someone is fighting the fight for us to get fuckdefcon.com or something like that. I am over-joyed that Kevin is done with his payment of dues to society and I hope that things get tremenously better for him. I know that I will bump into him soon and I do have presents too. More details to come. It's funny that Kevin looked at google.com before looking at 2600, with Emmanual next to him. 2600 was the 4th site on Kevin's journey.
Real Networks playing fair? With costs of bandwidth rising for streaming media providers, Real Networks might have made the struggle for content delivery a little easier. They have no made the cource code for sending video and audio over the net to software and hardware makers. The open software as I understand is called Helix Technology and more than 10,000 developers have joined the Helix community says Dan Sheeran, VP of media systems (Real Networks).
Linux Expo tomorrow
Just a little post. Linux Expo starts again in New York tomorrow. I have seen a lot of hype on news.com about new start-ups and IBM boasting about new customers. I guess I am just a little jealous about no being able to be there. Well, I will just have to wait until SANS. Check out the linux expo website

Intersil has just made Wi-Fi better.
A more secure AP is being produced by chipmaker Intersil. Some of us are already using Intersil's 200mw prism chips but here comes a new AP. It runs Open Source Linux to secure the AP. I haven't done any tests with it yet, nor have I done any price comparison. It just warms my heart knowing it is out there. More

San Fran bans the Segway
As if any of us cares, but San Francisco bans Segway. The city on Monday becomes the first large municipality to outlaw the Segway Human Transporter on its sidewalks -- more than a month before the chariot-like vehicles are made available to the public. Theres only one word that comes to mind right now. SUCKERS
Microsoft, a traitor to our country?
In an announcement last week Microsoft said it would reveal its source code to governments to help them protect state software used for tracking personal data, taxes and ensuring national security. By doing so, Microsoft aims to strengthen its position in government markets, where it faces growing competitive pressure from free open-source software."Russia's chief demand was to get access to Microsoft's full code, with no omissions," said Yevgeny Karavayeshnikov, head of the FAPSI state intelligence and surveillance agency, which had authorized the agreement on behalf of the Russian government.
