Federal Habeas Corpus Petition - April 23, 1997

Chris (Minor Threat) has filed his federal habeas corpus petition in the Western District of Texas. This petition challenges his Internet ban on First Amendment grounds as well as other statutory grounds. It also challenges his post-release condition prohibiting him from working as a computer programmer, on the contention that programming was totally unrelated to his convicted offense.

A decision from the district court can be expected in about 6 months (October 1997). If that decision is not favorable, Chris will appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana.
