System Overview System Diagram

Only recently has high-speed Internet access been readily available, and as speeds and user connectivity increases, web cameras will see an increased level of interest. Demands will include not only video inputs, but audio inputs as well. High quality CCD imagers, drivers, and video encoders will be expected as the norm. Web cameras will be able to produce clean and crisp images by leveraging analog technology with DSP modules.

Component Highlights

* CMOS image sensor - high-performance, low-power sensors capture still and motion images, converting them to a digital data stream.
* CCD AFE - front-end devices are capable of up to 48-bit color scanning.
* Digital video serializer - low power, highly-integrated devices encode, serialize, and transmit bit-parallel digital data.
* Digital video decoder - low-power device descrambles SMPTE 259M standard serial digital video datastreams.
* ADC - high-speed 8-bit converters have resolutions to produce clear images, and include audio functions to capture and convert high-quality audio.
* LDO - efficient power conversion with low quiescent current and ultra-low dropout voltage extend battery life.
* Voltage supervisor - a large selection of devices address the low-voltage requirements of newer DSPs.
* Operational amplifiers - with industry-leading bandwidth-to-power ratio and low distortion, the LMHTM high-speed op amps are high-performance drivers.
* Bus switch - LVDS crosspoint switches have a non-blocking design which allows connection of any input to any output of the webcam.
