System Overview System Diagram

Traditionally, video games have used a basic cable to connect the user's game pad or joystick to the main controller box or PC. But this wired link is limiting with the inevitable tangles of normal use, such as tripping over and jerking of cables when a player gets up or changes places. So game controllers have gone wireless. And National is on track with the newest generation of handheld game controllers and is providing solutions to cut the cord, the bulk, and the expense.

Component Highlights

* CP3000 Connectivity Processors - RISC core with on-chip SRAM and Flash memory provides high computing bandwidth, and additional integration gives high I/O bandwidth and system expandability.
* PLLs - low power consumption and choice of integer vs fractional design creates high level of performance for portable wireless communications devices.
* Voltage supervisors - tiny supervisors with features such as manual reset and watchdog address the low voltage requirements of newer microcontrollers.
* Switching regulators - integrated and controller-based switching regulators have high switching frequency and low output voltage ideal for microcontroller core supplies. Tiny boost, buck, and Cuk converters with high switching frequencies increase the power density and performance of handheld units.
