Objective:

Understand the fundamentals of the CRT Display; Understand how to design CRT Displays.

 

Reading Assignment:

  1. To find out how a CRT monitor functions, read AN-656, "Understanding The Operation of a CRT Monitor."
  2. Electromagnetic compatibility must be addressed at the very beginning of a CRT design. Find out how to do this in AN-990, "Radiated Emissions and CRT Displays."

Wayne Harlan

Wayne Harlan is a Principal Applications Engineer for the CRT and Digital TV group at National Semiconductor Corporation in Santa Clara, CA. He received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison WI in 1973 and has worked with CRT displays for 27 years, from circuit design to project management, and has 8 US patents. Prior to joining National in 2000, he was employed at Compaq Computer Corporation in Houston TX.
