System Overview System Diagram

Ultrasound systems convert electrical impulses into sound energy that is passed through a patient's tissue and reflected back to the ultrasound probe. The data is amplified and digitally converted before it reaches the processing units. The processing units output audio and two-dimensional images for the patients and medical staff. The next development in ultrasound technology is integration of software to generate three-dimensional images.

Component Highlights
* A/D converter - high-speed, high-resolution converters keep system power dissipation low.
* D/A converter - high-resolution, wide dynamic range converters interface easily with microprocessors.
* Operational amplifier - the 200MHz-bandwidth, low-noise operational amplifier LMH6624 supports high quality signal processing needed for ultrasound systems.
* Audio amplifier- Boomer® amplifiers require few external components and operate with low power, simplifying the design of a portable system.
* Crosspoint switch - the CLC018 switch operates at data rates more than 1.485 Gbps per channel with high signal fidelity and noise immunity, and low power consumption.
