// Long Distance Bullshit // // by djmollusk // // http://www.oldskoolphreak.com [Note from dual: This was written in regards to the arbitrary billing practices of IXCs, i.e. neglecting to bill for a month's worth of long distance, only to stick the subscriber with two month's worth the next billing cycle.] Hey dual... djmollusk here. I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone with this "long distance carry-over" bullshit. Early last year I was working as a customer service rep for MCI Worldcom. A lot of customers would call in and talk about how much of a pain it was. It really did screw some customers over so much that they would get their service cut off. I remember one time there was a single monther of a 10-month old baby who called me. She was really upset that she had a $200 phone bill. I had to explain to her that the reason it was so high is that there was a billing problem and that we were just charging her for long distance calls that were not on her last month's bill. Her service ended up being canceled because she couldn't make the payment. Since she had both long distance and local service through MCI she lost both of them. I would see so many billing problems on customer's accounts when I was working there. We weren't allowed to bring the errors to the customer's attention. We were only to fix them if the customers noticed. One day I got in trouble with my supervisor because I spent some extra time fixing a problem with a customer's bill even though the customer didn't notice it. They told me that I could have taken another customer's call during that time. I was then told that "It's not our fault if they don't look at the charges on their bill." I guess a little extra charge here and there and soon they have a big ass profit. I quit MCI Worldcom a couple months before all their shit went down with the false profits and stuff.
