DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has discovered a vulnerability in RSLogix 5000, which
can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a vulnerable
system.

The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the RnaUtility.dll
module when handling a certain size field within packets. This can be
exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow via a specially
crafted packet sent to e.g. TCP port 4445.

Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.

The vulnerability is reported in versions 17, 18, and 19 (confirmed
in 17.00.00 CPR 9 SR 1) and all FactoryTalk-branded software versions
CPR9 and CPR9-SR1 through SR4.

SOLUTION:
Apply patch AID 458689.
