If your scanner is not working as it should, these suggestions might help
you eliminate the problem. If the scanner still does not operate normally,
take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.

PROBLEM

Scanner is on but will not scan.

SUGGESTIONS

  If SQUELCH MIN/MAX is adjusted so you always hear a hissing sound, the
  scanner will not scan properly. Be sure SQUELCH MIN/ MAX is adjusted
  properly.

  Be sure scanner is set to the scan mode (MANUAL is not displayed).

  Be sure you have stored frequencies into the scanner's channels.

PROBLEM

Scanner does not work at all.

SUGGESTIONS

  Replace the batteries with fresh ones or recharge them.

  Be sure the AC adapter or DC cigarette lighter adapter is connected
  properly.

PROBLEM

Error appears on the display.

SUGGESTION

  You programmed a frequency in correctly. Try again.

PROBLEM

Scanner receives stations poorly or not at all.

SUGGESTION

  Check the antenna (indoor or outdoor).

  Signals may be blocked from being received by the scanner due to metal
  frames or material in the building. Change the scanner's location and
  try again.

PROBLEM

Scanner's keys or display work poorly or not at all.

SUGGESTIONS

  The scanner's keys are locked. Unlock the scanner's keys.

  Reset the scanner.

PROBLEM

Scanner locks on frequencies that have an unclear transmission.

SUGGESTION

  You might have tuned to a birdie frequency. Avoid programming
  frequencies listed under "Birdie Frequencies", or only select them
  manually.
