FREE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

IN ORDER FOR ME TO BEST MEET YOUR NEED FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE:

1.  You must have the Service Manual for your equipment AND you must
    give me a legible, complete copy of it if I don't have one.

2.  You must legibly and clearly communicate the nature and symptoms of
    your technical matter, being as detailed as possible. The more you
    tell me, the better I can help you.

3.  I can assure timely tech support ONLY via certain selected
    media now, the US Mails and the telephone being more or less out.

               I cannot undertake the expense of FAX replies to non-
               business, hobby-type tech support.  You can FAX me,
               if you like, but my reply must be by e-mail, BBS, or
               US Mail, and the US Mail is out for all but a few
               simple yes-no types of questions.

     In a word, my tech support services are always free and with
     no strings attached, but must be on my terms and within my
     capabilities.  I am glad to be of help if you can help yourself.

4.  My offer to assist with technical matters AND about the mods in my
    SCANNER MODIFICATION HANDBOOKs and in THE ULTIMATE SCANNER is limited
    to written suggestions & discussions on my BBS or in various public
    electronic/computer media.  (Sorry, voice telephone time is not
    available for this purpose under ANY circumstances.)

5.  Under no circumstances do I now nor will I ever accept any
    liability, responsibility or obligation for malfunction of, loss of
    use of, damage to, or legal sanctions arising from the use of your
    equipment, whether or not such problems are related to my modifications
    or advice.

6.  Under no circumstances do I use the telephone for leisure/hobby
    matters; paying business only, please!

Echoes of FidoNet.  My FidoNet address is 1:202/731  There is probably a
local Fido BBS in your area that carries the FidoNet Shortwave and/or

is: Bill Cheek.  Contact me via computer if Uncle Sam's Snail Mail is too
slow for you.  Besides, I can't answer mail very promptly these days.  It
is inefficient and very costly.  I offer free, no strings attached tech
support in most any area where I am qualified via my BBS, the Hertzian
Intercept, and in many electronic networking and computer forums.

MODIFICATION MATERIALS:  I am not in the "parts business" but I am
committed to helping YOU enjoy Hobby Radio.  I can obtain certain parts and
materials for you if you need them.  I have to pay about the same costs as
you and then there are costs of time, procurement, storage and handling
which add to my expense which must be passed on to you.  I will quote
specific parts and materials per your request.

MAIL ORDER REPAIR, MODIFICATION & ENGINEERING SERVICES SOMETIMES AVAILABLE:
I service & design practically anything in electronics and radio including
CB, Ham, commercial, shortwave and scanner equipment.  I am especially
geared up to provide and install the modifications from my SCANNER
MODIFICATION HANDBOOKs if you can't do them yourself.  Give me the details
of what you want and you'll receive by return reply UPS shipping address,
phone number and a price/time quotation.  Normally I can service a radio
and get it back in shipping within 5-10 days of receipt.  Net prices for
parts and labor for Scanner Mods are listed herein.

TERMS: MO or certified check for promptest service; personal check ok, but
shipment might delay until check clears.  Make remittance payable to
COMMTRONICS ENGINEERING. COD available at an $8.50 surcharge.  Allow 1-4
weeks for delivery of parts/materials and 1-3 weeks for services.  Most
shipments are made within 3-days after receipt of order and payment. Prices
