I have a desktop connected to a Linksys router in one room and would occasionally like to use a laptop in another. When setting this up initially, the link for the last step in the Linksys software instructions wouldn't come up. Regardless, sometimes the laptop connects to the WLAN I set up with the router but mostly not. It chooses instead to connect to some weak-signalled WLAN that I don't even know where it's coming from.
I'm very elementary with PC's and what might be obvious to someone more experienced is not so obvious with me. Any possible suggestions before I hire a tech to make a house call? Thanks.

If you see a little icon in the bottom right next to the clock that looks like a monitor with 2 wavy lines coming out of it, double click on that then select view wireless networks. There should be an option to set your wifi signal as default.
