ZAGREB, CROATIA – Graffiti reading `Death to Journalists` appeared today on the building of the Zagreb Electric Tram at Remiza, signed BBB (Bad Blue Boys, Dinamo FC supporters). Similar graffiti was also sprayed on another building in Utrina, but was soon covered with white paint.
Supporters` violence, which has escalated after a mass brawl and murder of BBB member Frano Despic in Ribnjak park, was first directed at punks, headbangers, rockers and other sub cultural groups, but clearly, reporters are next in line.
On Wednesday, 5 Agram Crew members, a Bad Blue Boys fraction, attacked several individuals in their car for no apparent reason, in Zagreb`s Dubrava, while later that evening about 50 fans demolished an Ina petrol station in a mass brawl.
Will the mayor protect the reporters as well?
BBB association has denied participation in the incidents, as well as writing an anonymous e-mail which warns of a “retaliation spree” of the Bad Blue Boys over Frano Despic`s death. They criticised reporters for agitation and prejudgement for stating Dinamo fans were behind the entire matter.
Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic has supported the Bad Blue Boys, also claiming they were accused causelessly and that the entire story was a canard.
Will the mayor now defend reporters as well?
