Nephillim, part of the gothic cowboy look of the 1980's. Much like Sisters of Mercy, but not with the Leonard Cohen inspired name.
Lake of Tears, I wish they could find a lineup and stay with it. Too much personnel changes in that band.

Anybody remember first album Christian Death? I still haven't heard anything quite like it. Amazing guitar by Rikk Agnew.

Anyone heard of a Gothic-pop band called "The 69 Ey:eek:es"?
I think the album's called "Devil". The song "Lost Boys".
They could have potential, in a few years, if they stop trying to copy Nephilim

I've heard The 69 Eyes, and I like them. I think they're from Finland. The singer has a cool deep voice, kinda like Peter Steele from Type O Negative.

BINGO!!!
"...Early 1990's Helsinki, Finland. Five guys in Ramones-like black biker leather jackets have started a band called THE 69 EYES. Horror flavored Glam rock. They are VERY loud: Iggy & The Stooges, Dead Boys, Motörhead etc. Signed to the indie label Gaga Goodies. Records, tours; also in Sweden, U.K. and Italy; lots of chaos, broken hearts and distortion. Reputation goes before the band. Fan club in Japan. Dark industrial rock version of Blondie's "Call Me". More tours. More chaos. No mercy..."

Ive seen them play in London there a good band not my favourite gothic band as i prefer the medieval goth bands like The Soil Bleeds Black and Gothika but they do put on a good live show and Fat Bobs a good vocalist. Worth checking out for anyone who loves trad goth

I don't find them a true Gothic band, but sort of a kitschik Pop Goth group. That skeleton leather the lead singer wears looks Mickey Mouse, like those teenager biker club chapters with those cartoon logos as colors riding 125 cc enduros.
69 Eyes played a small club, here in town, which is otherwise a bar. They couldn't hope to fill a reasonably sized concert hall

Sorry lampshade maker it was NFD i was talking about . Saw them in London and they are good very trad goth.
Though as i said i prefer a number of medieval influenced gothic bands . Anyone whose interested in that genre of goth should try to get hold of an Attaraxia c.d they are breathtaking and the female vocalist is very pleasing to the eye

Here you go. Three different bands but all first class in my mind.
http://nicolar.free.fr/ataraxia.htm

http://www.geocities.com/gothicahomepage/main.htm
The first link is Ataraxia which is an Italian band who sing in a number of European languages and are highly talented.
The soil bleeds black are American and i highly recommend there c.d Mirror to the middle ages. The male and female vocals are very powerful
And the third gothica are also Italien and the vocalist voice is amazing as shes classically trained and the songs deal with european culture . Art poetry love and death.
You can find their c.ds on Amazon at a fair price.

I just noticed that their lyrics are in English.
How do I get an on-line sampler?

English isnt their strong point though theyve adapted some Poe poetry which is very haunting but obviously their italian songs are their strongest but also the german is very powerful.
Isnt there no free downloads on their site? I ll try and find out for you

Chain's got the right kind of hair to go Gothic. With the right kind of sunglasses (Sisters of Mercy) and dark attire, he could meet interesting people in art galleries and night clubs

I went to the site posted for the 69 Eyes and they have an almost generic sound to the song "Devils" and to "Lost Boys", they do sound alot like Sisters of Mercy. The vocalist looks like Andrew Eldritch but sounds like Peter Steele. Not many people have a voice as low as Steele, Autumn Moon sounds like a great song, from the clips on the website.
My gothic favorites are (besides Type O Negative):
Tristania (Norwegian black metal/gothic band with a triple threat vocal style, growls, clean vox and a female operatic singer)
Moonspell (Portugese band, Fernando Ribeiro sounds alot like Steele, but darker with a great gothic sound)
The Vision Bleak (German band with only one album out, called "The Deathship has a New Captain" I have heard some tracks off of it and its a cleaner sound in vocals but still gothic)
