After Screwdriver, Cock Sparrer remains my 2nd favorite Oi bands after almost 20 years.

Not an out right WN Oi band strictly speaking, they made is clear by their lyrics they generaly stood on the WN side. :D

"Watch your back" after 20 years is still one of my favorite songs along with "England belongs to me". They did loads of great songs like "Get a rop", "White Riot" and many others.

If you've not heard their music I recommed you check the band out, they are from London, England and were one of the early Oi bands. I remember them from the early 1980's as a young WN Skinhead and in 2004 they are still going strong. :D

COCK SPARRER LYRICS

"Get A Rope"

From the streets of Aberdeen to the Brighton scene
There's something going wrong
From the woolacomb shore to the tots dance floor
They all shout "what's going on?"

You promised us a country fit for a queen
But the queen doesn't have to pay
You promised us a future bright and clean
For a vote on electionday

Is there no-one left to shout?
There's some people round here need sorting out
'Coz for you there's just no hope

Get a rope, get a rope

Sitting warm and snug on your council seat
In comfy shoes and tweed
With your rules and regs wrapped nice and neat
Deciding what my kids can't read

We're sick and tired of your liberal views
What's politically correct?
Come judgement day, I'll be trying the noose
And slipping it around your neck

Can't you hear me shout?
There are a lot of people like me about
But for you there's just no hope

Get a rope, get a rope

We want to make life one big joyride
But the roadblocks get in the way
We want to fly off the Spanish seaside
But the plane's always delayed

We want to sing songs on radio 1
but the BBC says "no!"
We want to do deals on a mobile phone
and have something left to show

Is there no-one left to say?
There's some people round here need blowing away
'Coz for you there's just no hope

Get a rope, get a rope!
Get a rope, get a rope!
Get a rope, get a rope!

Here are some more great lyrics from COCK SPARRER about Comradeship.

"Anthem"

Give me your hopes, give me your dreams
Give me your conscience and your fears
I'll keep them safe, I'll hold them dear
And I'll believe in you

When you're blind I'll be your eyes
When you're weak I'll carry you
When hope is gone I'll pull you through
And I'll believe in you

[Bridge]
In darkest hours, in troubled times, through seas of fire and fields of lies
When all is lost in clouds of pain, I'll be your comfort and your guide

When all around the battles rage
Remember you were born to be free
I'm in your blood, your part of me
And I'll believe in you

[Bridge]

So when you need me there just call
When your back's against the wall
I'll never let you fall
And I'll believe in you!

I think that Cocksparrer is the best Oi band ever. Excellent band in a genre' filled w/ some pretty poor ones. Ian Stuart in what I have read said that Skrewdriver was a Rock-n-Roll band. He seemed to want to distance himself from Oi. Especially when Oi nosedived in popularity. I don't blame him. Labeling yerself like that is death for a band.

Boehse Onkelz/Böhse Onkels are a great German band you are right mate, I have loads of their CD's. Dutch oi bands there have been a few but there have not been any very good ones that I can think of. Well not in the league of Cock Sparrer, Skrewdriver or Boehse Onkelz.

There are loads of German WN Oi bands but in my view Boehse Onkelz are the best, although they do not have the same links with WN as they used to have. I like there new songs aswell as there old ones. They changed their music style a little and made it a little more Metal than Oi. Mexico is an old CD worth getting hold of and Boese Menschen -Boese Lieder is also a good old CD. A good song about the German homo serial killer of the 1920's Haarman is a good song by Saccara another German WN band. I must have about 25 German Oi CD's.

I have collected a great deal of WN music over the years. :D

'sparrer always struck me as more a 'hooli' type band. I would think twice about their WN links . . . one of the guys from Corona Ferrea (RAC band from Milan) lamented how they couldn't see Cocksparrer because they were playing with SHARP flags behind them and Redskins as security. It was from an interview in Pure Impact magazine. Still a great band but not one of my faves . . . . Early Ovaltinees is great for pro-White British Oi! (I need to hunt some of their stuff down . . . ain't heard 'em in years . . .)

Ever get into Stoerkraft, Kahlkopf or Endstufe? I used to have much of that stuff on vinyl . . . . I always dug their sound . . . gruff vocals, semi-metallic guitar work and great sing alongs (especially Stoerkraft). . .

Yep, Storm & Spandau, I say anyone who doesn't like Cock Sparrer because theyre not racial is crazy. Shock Troops & Runing Riot in 84 have been on my turntable, cassete deck or cd player since they came out. I don't know if they're #2, but definitely in the top ten. Never saw them, but the only time they played in L.A., while I was living there, I got a DUI enroute to the gig. Drag!!!

Some of their lyrics are very WN, I mean England belongs to me is fuckin ace! They are anti the royals which I agree with. Many of their tracks talk about life growing up in working class London and they always make it very clear that they are very proud of their local and English roots, which is rare these days.

"Get a rope" is about as unPC as you'll find and it offers the best solution to solve many of our problems, Ropes cheap and there is loads of it! :D

I agree totally, Storm. I just put the CD on when I saw this thread. There is not one once of leftist anything on either album. What has always bothered me, though, is the racial bands of the era - Skullhead, No Remorse, Brutal attack etc. - didn't have any of the ability of Cock Sparrer. As C.S.'s lyrical and musical abilities are sooooo much better. Another thing that has always bothered me - don't get me wrong, I've got hundreds of WP CDs - is skin bands always had shitty drummers, at least in comparison to punk or pychobilly bands, for example. Imagine how good Skrewdriver would have sounded with the Buzzcocks drummer, for instance. Oh well, that's life.

When did Cock Sparrer play LA?

I remember well because of the instance of the dui, I think it was April '96. They played with the Business out at some place off of Lankershim in your old neck-o-the-woods. I got hammered at Al's Bar, then got popped coming off the freeway. My buddy, who was in my car when I got pulled over, just walked to the gig - sans the beer in the car, of course ;) . He was chattin with the C.S. singer about ISD, and said he was cool about talking about him. However, the Business guys weren't cool with it. Big drag, my friend, big drag.

Take 'em all, take 'em all, take 'em up against the wall and shoot 'em. Short 'n tall watch 'em fall, come on guys (?) take 'em all.

Not a antifa styled song. hehehe...

Yep, those Business dudes are poseurs. My junior high school friend was in the band Mad Parade and they went on tour with the Business in Europe. Fitz wouldn't listen to anything but swing tunes. Mike said that they got aggravated if they put on any old punk or Oi tunes.

I enjoy some of the old singles, though. He just seemed like he was in it for a buck, playin' the kiddie circuit now. At least the few times I've seen them, that's what I thought. I saw them once in San Diego, and when the WP Skins (with the assistance of a few leather boys ;) ) were bashin' the lefties skins & other scum, Fitz went blathering on about " it's the music, not politics..." Yep, we always called it the skinhead drummin' school. I could never figure that one out. The first Skrewdriver stiks man - can't remember the name - was pretty good. Must've been been the racial angle not attracting good drummers, I guess. But there's good racialist guitar players, so I've no idea.

Well, I grew up around those guys and hated 'em. They didn't like me either, drunken, insane, violent, racist that I am, I could never figure out why. That is, except for Mike, who was usually a good guy , except if he drank too much. He had a serious accident with surgery on his head, we thought had something to do with it. Early on, my other friend was in the band, Ron, who was the first one to turn me on to Rodney's radio show, but that dude turned into a fuggin' queer and moved to England.

I have known Paul and his brother (No remorse/Pubic Ememy) for years (old C1* football crowd), so I can not slag off their music, they are good hardcore WNs.

But Cock Sparrer is just fuckin ace and I love the great hard agro style lyrics. I spent some time around the South East London scene in the late 80's early 90's, although I live in East Anglia (just a quick journey down the M11 away).

It's true that the drums is often a weak point with Oi bands, Cock Sparrer is the exception I think.

I think we need both.

Having bands that keep a lid on it, and thus get wider exposure, is as important as having outright NS-branded bands.

"The jew is our second greatest enemy, the WEAK white traitor is our greatest!"

Couldn't agree more.

Well mate, I still like playing the Clash, I love English civil war. I listen to The Clash, C84 and Cock Sparrer all the time in the car.

ENGLISH CIVIL WAR (round II)

when johnny comes marching home again
he's coming by bus or underground
a woman's eye will shed a tear
to see his face so beaten in fear
an' it was just around the corner in the english civil war

it was still at the stage of clubs and fists
when that well-known face got beaten to bits
your face was blue in the light of the screen
as we watched the speech of an animal scream
the new model army was marching right over our heads

alright

there you are, ha ha, i told you so
says everybody that we know
but who hid a radio under the stairs
an' who got caught out on their unawares?
when that new model army came marching right up the stairs

when johnny comes marching home again
nobody understands it can happen again
the sun is shining an' the kids are shouting loud
but you gotta know it's shining through a crack in the cloud
and the shadows keep falling when johnny comes marching home

When I hear the song, it always makes me think of raising the English Repubican banner like Cromwell of old and kicking some establishment skulls!

Sadly I never saw The Clash live. I have some of the old 4skins, Sex Pistols & Hazel O'Connor, the music was very raw but the lyrics had something real to say.

The music and lyrics had Passion, the music was angry and the lyrics said "we are young and pissed off at the state".

Not like the wet pansy shit we hear today, fuckinbrittany wot and QueerZone do me a favor!

I saw the Clash on three different tours here in the States - '80, '82, & '85. They might have been lefties, but they had balls, weren't degenerates and wrote intelligent lyrics, period. Strummer knew the meatgrinder of war Whites have been thrown into again & again & again... Fuckin' Tommy Gun is a song most WN bands could only dream of playing so well. *reaches for some Clash vinyl*

"Tommy Gun"

tommy gun
you ain't happy less you got one
tommy gun
ain't gonna shoot the place up
just for fun
maybe he wants to die for the money
maybe he wants to kill for his country
whatever he wants, he's gonna get it!

tommy gun
you better strip it down for a custom run
tommy gun
waiting in the airport 'till kingdom come
an' we can watch you make it
on the nine o'clock news
standing there in palestine lighting the fuse
whatever you want, you're gonna get it

tommy gun
you'll be dead when your war is won
tommy gun
but did you have to gun down everyone?
i can see it's kill or be killed
a nation of destiny has got to be fulfilled
whatever you want, you're gonna get it!

tommy gun
you can be a hero in an age of none
tommy gun
i'm cutting out your picture from page one
i'm gonna get a jacket just like yours
an' give my false support to your cause
whatever you want, you're gonna get it!

boats an' tanks and planes, it's your game
kings an' queens an' generals learn your name
i see all the innocents, the human sacrifice
and if death comes so cheap
then the same goes for life!
