A billboard containing simple factual information about a politician's voting record was vandalised.

The most telling comments:

Tino Camacho, reports the Kansas City Star, president of the local chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), called the billboards “racist” and

"We want the people (ProjectUSA) held accountable because of all the fear that they have created," said Mr. Camacho. "This is very, very … insulting to our community.”

The billboard reads, “On June 18, Rep. Dennis Moore voted against enforcement of U.S. immigration law. On July 8, he did it again.”

Below the text, the ProjectUSA web address is posted where visitors can read about Congressman Moore's two votes last summer against amendments that would have put teeth in the federal law outlawing local ordinances, called "sanctuary policies," that prohibit employees and police officers from cooperating with federal immigration law enforcement authorities.

A reporter for the Associated Press called ProjectUSA yesterday looking for a response to the accusations of racism and was given the standard response: "ProjectUSA is a group for any American who cares about the future of the country. LULAC, on the other hand, is a group for Latinos. Who's racist?"

And who's doing the insulting, for that matter?

Keep up the good PR (for concerned whites), silly "Hispanics." How many more racially aware whites do you think we have now due to the "Hispanics" inability to control themselves and act like civilized people?

Why can't these people get it though their heads that these illegals are breaking laws? Who do they think they are that that would give them the right to come to the United states and attempt to change our laws to fit what they want? If these people are so "proud of their heritage" as they claim why don't they stay in Mexico, or whatever turd-world shithole they come from and try to improve the standard of living for their people? I am so tired of people who shouldn't even be here in the first place crying about "discrimination"

Latinos object to billboards attacking Moore

Wyandotte County Latino activists on Wednesday demanded the removal of billboards that reflect Republican Kris Kobach's charges that Democratic Congressman Dennis Moore is soft on immigration.

Tino Camacho, president of the local chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens, called the billboards “racist” and said: “We want the signs out of our community. We want the people held accountable because of all the fear that they have created. This is very, very … insulting to our community.”

Placed in areas heavily populated by Hispanic businesses in Kansas City, Kan., the billboards highlight some of Moore's votes on immigration issues. The billboards say: “On June 18, Rep. Dennis Moore voted against enforcement of U.S. immigration law. On July 8, he did it again.”

The billboards, at three locations in Kansas City, Kan., were paid for independently by the nonprofit ProjectUSA, an organization based in Washington.

At a news conference in front of one of the billboards near Seventh Street and Central Avenue, Camacho said the signs send a message that immigrants are unwanted, and he said they assume that most immigrants are undocumented.

Craig Nelsen, ProjectUSA's executive director, said the billboards only recite Moore's voting record. Nelsen said he had no intention of taking them down.

“The billboard is what it is,” he said. “It says the truth. It's a fact about the votes in Congress about an important issue, and, as Americans, we should be talking about it.”

Kobach said the billboards were factually correct. “If there was anything on the board that was racist or false, of course I would repudiate it,” he said.

The billboard near Seventh and Central cites Moore's vote against a bill to bar federal funding for any state or local government that does not share someone's immigration status with federal authorities.

On June 18, the House voted 259-148 to kill that proposal, sponsored by Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, who leads the Team America political action committee. The committee has contributed $1,000 to Kobach's campaign.

The billboard also refers to Moore's opposition to a proposal that would have prohibited local police from having a blanket policy against reporting immigration information to the federal government. The House voted down the proposal 278-139 on July 8.

A Moore spokeswoman said the congressman voted against the proposals at the urging of local law enforcement officials who said they were not well equipped to deal with immigration enforcement. Law enforcement officials, she said, also said the legislation might hurt their ability to cultivate witnesses afraid of being deported.

Controversy is not new to Pro-jectUSA, which has taken on Republican and Democratic members of Congress.

In Mason City, Iowa, for example, organizers of a 2001 band festival parade apologized for a float entered by ProjectUSA, according to news accounts. The float contained the message: “In your 20s? Immigration will double U.S. population in your lifetime.”

ProjectUSA typically has a budget of $70,000 to $80,000, tax records show. This year the organization has focused on five races, including the 3rd District in Kansas, where Kobach is battling Moore, the three-term incumbent.

Like ProjectUSA, Kobach's campaign has focused on cracking down on illegal immigration. Kobach has also campaigned against giving in-state tuition to the children of undocumented immigrants under certain circumstances.

Kobach has received support from several groups like Team America, which says on its Web site that if the United States opens its borders, “our island of productivity and prosperity will soon disappear beneath a flood of Third World squalor.”

At Wednesday's news conference, Hispanic activists alleged that Kobach had been using the issue to try to divide the African-American and Hispanic communities by saying that most illegal immigrants are taking jobs once held by African-Americans.

Kobach responded: “That's ridiculous. Illegal immigrants come from all regions of the world. Enforcing immigration law has no racial content to it. It's about enforcing our laws against anyone who would break them.”

What a terrific quote from this Republican candidate there at the end. It's a wonderfully pre-emptive statement. For a spic activist to disagree with that statement, they'd have to admit that most illegal immigrants are spics, which of course they're not going to do.
