Dec. 29, 1976: George W. Girtman, 23, rapes a woman at knifepoint in her Fern Park apartment in Seminole County.
March. 18, 1977: A Seminole County jury convicts Girtman of the December 1976 rape.
April 20, 1977: Girtman appears in court wearing a pressed velvet burgundy suit and clutching a Bible. He is sentenced to 45 years.
May 3, 1977: Girtman is placed in custody of the Florida Department of Corrections.
July 10, 1984: Released from DOC on probation.
Summer 1985: The rapes begin in Orlando's Malibu Homes subdivision in southwest Orlando.
March 23, 1988: Woman raped in the 2600 block of Ravenall Avenue.*
May 4, 1988: Rape reported near Booker Street and Florence Avenue.*
Sept. 4, 1988: Woman raped in 4500 block of Cepeda Street.*
June 3, 1989: A mother and daughter were raped at a home near Aaron Avenue and Owens Street.*

March 17, 1992: DNA evidence links Girtman to six sexual assaults in 1988 and 1989.
June 9, 1992: Girtman charged with several counts of armed sexual battery.
Nov. 21, 1994: Girtman pleads no contest to several counts of sexual battery.
Nov. 23, 1994: A judge sentences Girtman to 45 years in prison.
Aug. 13, 2011: Girtman slated to be released from prison.
