But Hispanic community leaders and City Council President Ignacio De La Fuente complained that the checkpoints were making life miserable for illegal immigrants who aren't licensed to drive but otherwise obey the law.

Hey, two out of three ain't bad! :rolleyes: I give up. When it is considered a legitimate complaint that enforcing the law is making life miserable for lawbreakers, I don't know, I just don't see that we can ever turn this ship around.

Why do we not hear the collective laughter of every thinking person in this country when news like this comes about?
