Serb, Croat officials on military cooperation

ZAGREB -- The signing of an agreement between Serbia and Croatia on defense cooperation represents an important step in the improvement of the two countries' relations.
It also contributes to stability in South East Europe – according to Croatian President Ivo Josipović and Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac.
The two met in Zagreb, Croatia, on Monday.
Šutanovac, who is on a two-day visit to the neighboring country, is to ink a defense cooperation agreement with Croatian Defense Minister Branko Vukelić today.
Josipović said that he expects the agreement to reinforce and expand the area of mutual defense cooperation, which is "important for the entire region".
In the discussion between Josipović and Šutanovac it was emphasized that the two countries should continue to find solutions to unresolved issues, such as the question of refugees, missing persons, damage compensation and the border question.
Speaking about Serbia's results in the export of military goods, Šutanovac invited Croatia to cooperate in all military programs that entail a joint interest, it was stressed.
It was also stated that Šutanovac informed Josipović of the reforms in the Serbian Army, the deadlines to fully professionalize the army, and the plans to take part in peacekeeping missions.
