While I won't discount that some sickos over there are having sex with children, that's likely a topic of interest over there because if STDs are common, some can be transmitted from Mother to baby at birth. Imagine your whole body gets pushed down through some nasty woman's diseased birth canal and out of her filthy vagina, and you've got the fluids and whatnot in your mouth up your nose, etc. Some babies can have a hard time if they have the wrong Mom. This is why OB/GYNs test all pregnant women under their care for STDs and other diseases. In the US, things can be done to prevent this transmission.
