A gentleman came into the store today, ranting and raving about this or that laptop. As some of you may know, I work part-time at a computer store here in town to make money to ease the constraints of paying for school and getting into debt. Well this guy had a novel idea, he owns 2 websites, one of which has random junk information about "stopping ageing", while the other is his home business website which involves a studio. This guy was on holiday and was wanting something for his return home trip. Well we got into a discussion about his business and websites in general, and he showed me that on many different google websites from different countries (like google.uk, for example), his junk website (stop ageing) was way up there in terms of popularity and thus traffic. He showed me that China alone gave him a few million hits. He then linked this junk website to his actual, local sound recording studio website as a means to provide contact information. This caused tons of Internet traffic to his local, small-time business website and flung it to the very top of the list in terms of popularity when entering the proper search terms into google. He was even once called by an Internet marketing company asking for his secrets. He told me that this method of gaining traffic was called a "Red Hat" technique, and there are also, frowned upon methods called "Black Hat" techniques. His business is neither here nor there as he spent nearly $400,000 on the studio, but his 2 websites were much more interesting. On the junk website there was a single, lonely advertisement in the corner, I asked him how much that earned him monthly, and he responded "about $100 a month, enough to cover all my marketing costs." This gave me an idea, cut out his end, the recording studio website, and make a few dozen junk websites using red and black hat techniques to increase traffic to what he is seeing, each website linking to another and so on. One could make significant amounts of money this way.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? I am currently looking for a way to make decent amounts of money and according to this guy it is very doable. He pays about $5 a month for each website.

What a humorous man. Non-aging? I doubt it. But not to say it's impossible. I just doubt that he knows. The more serious of the religious science guys had come close to figuring it out, but even their absurdity wouldn't accommodate this.

Most of the hits on that website are from China and India, said he. I don't remember where he's from, some place called Petersburg or something? He told me he has multiple businesses but the fact that he can generate such wealth from a joke of a website explains it all. Type in "aging cure" on google and I guarantee that website is one of the top 5.

As far as linking all of your websites together, most search engines will penalize you for that, but only if you go overboard with it. Look up SEO(Search Engine Optimization).

Precisely, keep the information relevant, say make a few websites about living healthy and link them to various vitamin blogs. Keep very highly searched keywords on each page and watch the hits roll in. Every single website should have an advertisement to draw in lots of potential buyers. As long as that information is relevant, and one stays away from black hat SEO, I think you could make a lot of money.

Junk bodybuilding websites are good, too, like Gain Weight Fast, Lose Weight Fast, etc., etc.

Right now I'm busy trying to get antiwhitemedia.com up and running, but I don't really care about the money, it's just a pet project.

Steer clear of the "internet marketing" info sites unless your intent is to rehash their garbage and attach your face to it in hopes of selling based on personality.

It's the same for all of the 3 biggest information niches: Making money, sex (or relationships/dating/seduction/whatever), and health (weight loss mostly in this cow culture we live in).

And guess which people are making the most money?

People buy big promises. They don't buy someone telling them they have to make an effort.

In making money, the biggest info sellers are: Get rich quick
In sex: seduce her with pickup lines, even if you are 500lbs and broke
In weight loss: look at our testimonials, we all shit out 50lbs in 7 days!

Bottom line: Nobody is going to pay money to hear what we already know: it takes an effort to advance our position.

Unless, of course, you want to join the ranks of those hawking shit. I myself struggle with this one. I've seen every angle of internet marketing there is to see. I've never dove into it though. I know the second I put up a website and start doing what they're doing, I'm one of them, selling hype and hope to people who really need to face reality.

But then again, isn't that most of the shit we all buy today? Shit we don't need but are told we do from all of the manipulative advertising?

Do what you will. It's not hard to make money online. There's plenty of scumbags far dumber than the constituents of this forum doing it. Just tell people what they want to hear, and they'll give you some money to keep those good emotions flowing if you have enough of a unique spin.
