In my view a great writer a man with racist views, but also a race traitor! Sad really that he was so fucked up, but he had many problems in his life and at least he did not produce mongrel children from his jew wife.

He had a very strange family background and life, it was full of contradictions (typical artistic type). His anti-semitism seems to have grown once he married a jew! ;)

Yep, that scene was classic. My mind is drawing a blank right now, but what was the sequels name? Also, if this type of flick is your particular flavor, check out Herschel Gordon Lewis' classics of the genre.

They came out with Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator, both of which blew IMO.

They recently came out with a new two-DVD release of the original, called the mellinium edition.

We all forgave Glen Miller; might as well forgive HP Lovecraft too.

"2,000 Maniacs" is certainly a gore classic and you gotta love the Southern revenge plot.

You Lovecraft fans should check out 2003's "Dagon", also directed by Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator). I think "Dagon" is the best Lovecraft adaptation I've seen, even better than "Re-Animator" imo.

Dagon was good. Not really based on any one Lovecraft story though, a sort of amalgamation of Cthulhu mythos and Shadow over Innsmouth.

I saw Reanimator in the early '90s - I believe on HBO. But I was pretty shitfaced at the time and don't remember all the details - other than that fuckin' black cat coming back to life after the serum injection.

I'll have to stop by Blockbuster some time and give it another whirl.

Mr. Intrepid, the kracken and all the other monsters in Clash of the Titans were designed by Ray Haryhausen. Sure there were other animators, but the creatures were designed by Ray, not Johnny. Oh, Ray's not a Nip either.
