I was a little confused by the title. I just assumed it was just a wog (golliwog). Now I know better. I guess golliwog is another name for a nig, like Aunt Jemima or that niglet Buckwheat.

Chris, my understanding of the origin of WOG comes to us from the time of the British Raj in India in the 19th century when especially trusted or favoured males from the Indian sub-continent would be rewarded with government posts. In order to distinguish these individuals from the mass of people in the Raj, the British administration issued the favoured workers with a black armband with three large white block letters on it: W.O.G. which has been understood by many Britons since the 19th century to denote a "Worker Of Government", an especially esteemed and priviledged position.

In Australia WOG is usually used to describe Italians Greeks Croats and Serbs. We never really used it to describe lebos arabs muzzies because until recently there really was not that many of the parasites in our country. If you hear us mention wogball, that means soccer
