OK, this thing was driving me insane for months. Opening and shutting windows at random. Cutting bits of text and pasting it elsewhere. Just a nightmare.

Neither norton nor Mcaffee could find anything.

Finally, I came across a freeware program called Sophos for Mac. Within 20 mins, it had found the offending file and no problems since. Higly recommend it.
