In an effort to win the war Hitler and his generals devised and invented new top secret weapons, most however never passed the development stage or never entered production. But had they succeeded the outcome of the war could have been very different.

NS Germany had weapons on hand to turn the war around.... ~12,000 tons of nerve agent tabun were produced in 1944 alone. The Allies had no defense against it. Would have been very effective against the Normandy beachheads, Soviet troop concentrations, etc. "Monstrous" Adolf would not allow its use.

I'm sure the prevailing winds of Normandy would've precluded any thoughts of using gas against Allied troops even if the Wehrmacht had a mind to.

The Germans developed tabun nerve agent as an aerosol, not a gas. It would not have blown around the battlefield the way the gases used in WWI did. It was loaded into shells which upon detonation would spray the immediate area with the nerve agent. It is photostable, thermally stable below 49 C, would stick to surfaces, and remained effective even in cold weather. So yes, after delivering tabun to the Allied troop concentrations/positions and watching their opponents writhe themselves to death, the Germans would have had to quarantine the area until properly equipped teams could decon the area (tabun is rapidly hydrolyzed with basic solutions, i.e. NaOH).
