On 10 May 1941, Hess took of from Augsburg, Germany, on a secret self appointed flight to Scotland. Hess believed that he could end the war by negotiating a deal with the Duke of Hamilton, a man of Royal blood thought to be a political enemy of the war monger Winston Churchill.
