Jews and the American Soul: Human Nature in the 20th Century (http://search.barnesandnoble.com/BookSearch/isbnInquiry.asp?userid=v127VHcAp0&isbn=0691117551&itm=1)

FROM THE PUBLISHER
"Jews and the American Soul is the first book to recognize the central role Jews and Jewish values have played in shaping American ideas of the inner life. It overturns the widely shared assumption that modern ideas of human nature derived simply from the nation's Protestant heritage." Heinze marshals a rich array of evidence to show how individuals ranging from Erich Fromm to Ann Landers changed the way Americans think about mind and soul. The book shows us the many ways that Jewish thinkers influenced everything from the human potential movement and pop psychology to secular spirituality. It also provides fascinating new interpretations of Sigmund Freud, Alfred Adler, and Western views of the psyche; the clash among Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish moral sensibilities in America; the origins and evolution of America's psychological and therapeutic culture; the role of Jewish women as American public moralists, and more. A must-read for anyone interested in the contribution of Jews and Jewish culture to modern America.

Screeching Jewesses, Revilo Oliver called them.

Wow, not only are they rubbing our faces in it, they want us to be proud of them. Plus, they know the average fuckwit is too stupid to pick up a book (thanks to Jews who make learning horrible), so they're in no danger of being exposed.

Yep, we owe a lot of the american way to the jews. If not for them we probably wouldn't have the wonderful banks that suck the life out of every american family by putting them into holes of debt that they can never climb out of. We probably wouldn't pay all the taxes that we pay to pay for Isreal and it's pet projects around the world. We probably wouldn't have the deginerate media filling our kids heads with MTV jungle fever loving trash. Yep, without jews america just wouldn't be the same would it?

They managed to pervert her rather quickly. Do you know what her original name was? She was called "Liberty Enlightens the World." She was holding up her lamp as an example to the dark places.

Within a few short years, though, they'd attached that pathetic screed by the Jewess Emma Lazarus -- you know the one: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning" to cash in... They managed to change her lamp from a shining example to a beacon showing where to drop off the dregs of humanity.

Here's another proud boast of the world conquest of Jewish values:

FROM THE PUBLISHER
This masterwork of interpretative history begins with a bold declaration: The Modern Age is the Jewish Age -- and we are all, to varying degrees, Jews. The assertion is, of course, metaphorical. But it underscores Yuri Slezkine's provocative thesis. Not only have Jews adapted better than many other groups to living in the modern world, they have become the premiere symbol and standard of modern life everywhere. Slezkine argues that the Jews were, in effect, among the world's first free agents. They traditionally belonged to a social and anthropological category known as "service nomads," an outsider group specializing in the delivery of goods and services. Their role, Slezkine argues, was part of a broader division of human labor between what he calls Mercurians -- entrepreneurial minorities -- and Apollonians -- food-producing majorities.

That's right, us cattle are just "Apollonians -- food-producing majorities." Or in other words, mutritional hosts for our 'superior' Jewish parasites, aka "Mercurians -- entrepreneurial minorities." And 'Apollonians' sounds so much more palatable than 'goyim,' don't you think?

Since the dawning of the Modern Age, Mercurians have taken center stage. In fact, Slezkine argues, modernity is all about Apollonians becoming Mercurians -- urban, mobile, literate, articulate, intellectually intricate, physically fastidious, and occupationally flexible. Since no group has been more adept at Mercurianism than the Jews, he contends, these exemplary ancients are now model moderns. The book concentrates on the drama of the Russian Jews, including emigres and their offspring in America, Palestine, and the Soviet Union. But Slezkine has as much to say about the many faces of modernity -- nationalism, socialism, capitalism, and liberalism -- as he does about Jewry. Marxism and Freudianism, for example, sprang largely from the Jewish predicament, Slezkine notes, and both Soviet Bolshevism and American liberalism were affected in fundamental ways by the Jewish exodus from the Pale of Settlement. Rich in its insight, sweeping in its chronology, and fearless in its analysis, this sure-to-be-controversial work is an important contribution not only to Jewish and Russian history but to the history of Europe and America as well.

Yeah, Mercurians have "taken center stage" alright. Literally. Center stage. Taken. Stolen. Imposed. NOTE: Not Jews, but 'Mercurians.' Kind of like 'Neocons,' not Jews.

FROM THE CRITICS
Publisher's Weekly
The provocative argument that underlies this idiosyncratic, fascinating and at times marvelously infuriating study of the evolution of Jewish cultural and political sensibility is that the 20th century is the Jewish Age because "modernization is about everyone becoming urban, mobile, literate, articulate, intellectually intricate.... Modernization, in other words, is about everyone becoming Jewish." A professor of history at UC-Berkeley, Slezkine plays a delicate game here. Knowing that his grand statements are more metaphorical than supportable with historical fact, he maps out a new history of Jewish culture over the past 100 years in four radically diverse but cohesive chapters. In a history of Jewish group identity and function, Slezkine depicts Jews as a nomadic tribe that functions as a promoter of urban cultural and economic change. The book's last chapter ("Hodel's Choice") uses the image of the daughters of Sholem Aleichem's famous milkman Tevye to discuss the three great recent Jewish immigrations-to America in the 1890s, from the Pale of Settlement to the Russian cities after the revolution and to Palestine after the birth of Zionism. Through these migrations, Slezkine argues, the modernism of Jewish culture spread throughout the world. Nearly every page of Slezkine's exegesis presents fascinating arguments or facts-e.g., that "secular American Jewish intellectuals felt compelled" to become more Jewish when they were allowed into traditional American institutions. While not strictly a traditional history, Slezkine's work is one of the most innovative and intellectually stimulating books in Jewish studies in years.

Well, who would have guessed? Henry Ford, maybe? Naw, he was a naziwhowantedtokillsixmillionjews.

What planet do the jews live on?

Ha! google search for 'symbol of modernization' turns up clocks, factories, air conditioners, etc and this -
nothing makes you feel so modernized as to have your cultural traditions destroyed and your homeland stolen, I suppose... this is just what the jews are doing to the Christians, now.

"The original Dayak identity their cultural, economic, religious and political life has been preserved through their oral tradition. Experts agree that there are many basic affinitives in the legends of the various Dayak groups. Sadly, though, all the original elements of Dayak life as described in the legends have suffered significantly from external elements.

Modern Religions

Christianity greatly affected the status of legends among the Dayak groups. The legends, which were recited during rituals, were dismissed as animistic. The Christian converts deem adherents to the traditional religion primitive and obsolete. The doctrine was spread through schools and sermons in the villages. In Central Kalimantan, people call it the "obsolete yeast" or "emptying glass" policy. Anthropologist J.J. Kusni concludes in one of his books that the propagation of Christianity amounts to the conquering of the Dayak.

The Christian proselytizers shouldering what they call ‘la mission sacre’ of civilizing the savage peoples see the Dayak culture as ‘obsolete yeast’, worth disposing. The ‘obsolete yeast’ concept tends to drain the Dayak of their culture and fill them out with new values," says Kusni. The policy was exercised not only in Central Kalimantan, but also in East, West and South Kalimantan. Further, Christianity was considered as a savior and a symbol of modernization. The impact has been great. The Christians are uncomfortable attending funerals and weddings of pagans.

In a West Kalimantan village, used as a base by a Christian mission, posters are plastered all over the place to intimidate Dayaks from practicing their cultural traditions. A poster in illustrates a path branching in two. The left is "the road to hell", with a picture of a ritual at the end of the road. The right is "the road to heaven", with a picture of modern life is seen at the end of the road."
