LONDON, England (AP) -- Feminist icon Germaine Greer, who baffled observers by agreeing to appear in a reality TV show, quit the program Tuesday and launched a scathing attack on the producers.

The Australian writer and academic left British show "Celebrity Big Brother" after five days of being locked in a house with an underwear model, a teenage musician, a drug-loving dancer and an ex-wife of Sylvester Stallone.

Speaking at a press conference, Greer compared the house to a "fascist prison" and said producers had behaved with "complete irresponsibility" in introducing Stallone's mother, Jackie, to the house.

Stallone's former wife Brigitte Nielsen hadn't met her former mother-in-law since divorcing the "Rocky" star in 1987, after 17 months of marriage.

The two were polite to each other, but once the 71-year-old Jackie Stallone was out of earshot, Nielsen told fellow housemates: "I was so happy, and now I'm miserable."

Greer, 65, who is best known for her radical book "The Female Eunuch," told journalists that "Big Brother" operated on a culture of bullying, and that she hadn't been prepared for the taunting she received from fellow housemate, racing pundit Don McCririck.

She said reality television could not be described as "wholesome family entertainment" and could only sink lower and get "dirtier and dirtier."

Having vowed to use any money earned through the program to save 125 acres of rain forest in Australia, Greer told the show's cameras she didn't need the funds badly enough.

"The rain forest will be fine -- I'll save it in other ways," she said.

Greer said that in contrast to her housemates, who entered the program to raise their profile and further their careers, she had nothing to gain.

"I was a little naive. I didn't realize agendas.

"I had no idea who would be in here, and it's wrong for me to present myself in the same context as they are," she said.

Her decision to join "Celebrity Big Brother" had stunned many. She once categorized contestants in an earlier version of the show as exhibitionists who "risked the wreck of their pampered egos."
Mrs. Greer, the show isn't "Fascist", the show is JEWISH!!
