The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on Friday ruled that five Jewish 15-year-old girls suspected of attacking a Palestinian family from East Jerusalem near the Old City remain under house arrest for one week.

The judge rejected a police request to keep the girls in detention until the conclusion of legal proceedings against them, Israel Radio reported.

The girls were arrested late Wednesday.

On their way back from circling the Temple Mount marking the conclusion of the tenth of Tevet fast day, 15 youths allegedly encountered a Palestinian couple and their eight-year-old daughter at IDF Square. They hurled stones at the family and knocked the father to the ground, causing ligh! t injuries, and stole the mother's purse.

A police officer who attended the scene immediately called for back up, and the officers who arrived arrested the five girls, while the rest of the group escaped.

One of the girls was jailed last month for putting up illegal posters belonging to an ultra right-wing faction. The girls refused to cooperate with the police, maintaining that they were arrested for political reasons.

Police on Friday arrested two female friends of the five girls when they began screaming and attacking officers in the courthouse.

I couldn't agree more 999. I must confess however, that I like "fighting gals." Whining, limp-wristed, cry-baby women are a bit naseating.

The teen-aged gals in rural (small town) schools here in S.W. Missouri get into lots of fist fights. These fights are often staged by the boys who like to see which one's girl friend can whip the other's.

Several years ago while I was on the road trucking, two of my sons organized a fist fight between one's girl friend, and one of my daughters, who was 15 at the time. After moving the furniture back against the walls, making plenty of room, the gals went at it with fists, big time, blood flying everywhere. My daughter lost that particular fight, but won many others during her high school years. And I think she's a stronger woman for it, with high self esteem now at age 22.
