The United States on Monday pledged $40 million in immediate aid to the Palestinian government. U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made the announcement at a press conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his headquarters in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

Israeli rabbis were planning on Sunday to hold special sessions in 100 synagogues to pray for the failure of this week's summit between prime minister Ariel Sharon and new Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas.

The prayer sessions on Monday will also call for divine intervention against Sharon's plan to pull settlers out of the Gaza Strip and small parts of the northern West Bank later this year.

Somehow I doubt that the Israelis will ever "peacefully" live side by side with the Palestinians. I'm sure Israel will carry out a suicide bombing or two and blame it on the Palestinians and cancel any acts of "peace".

Isn't this whole scenario the subject of a long standing joke? You know like negro's will create a modern civilization when the Israeli's and Palestinians make peace.

I swear that every few years there is some "peace summit" and the news says that a truce has been reached, it's old news. And yes it is total bullshit.
