We will be vacationing in Branson the week of June 19. Kinda looking for things to do with the family that are free or not too expensive and worthwhile. I just don't want to be standing in line all day at theme parks. Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Wish I could advise you, but I'm not familiar with Branson. My impression is that it's pretty well self-contained in terms of amusement. Southern Missouri is loaded with hunting/fishing options (Table Rock and Mark Twain lakes) and there's a Bass Pro shops somewhere. There's the Katy trail, too, but that's farther north.

That Bass Pro Show is located in Springfield on the corner of Campbell and Sunshine - super huge store, btw. About 35 miles from Branson.

My middle son Jess and his tall, gorgeous blue-eyed, blonde new wife honeymooned in Branson two months ago. Said they had a great time, but other than visiting a Civil War photo shop and having themselves photographed in authentic civil war era attire, I don't know what other Branson entertainment places they went. (Though we only live about 50 miles away, I've never been there except when passing thru).

About an hour East of Branson there are some interesting sites. Beautiful country with many large springs around. Alley Spring in Eminence has an average daily output of 83,000,000 gallons a day! There are some even larger. Spring River is a small river than literally flows right out of the ground at Mammoth Spring.

There are several trail ride setups around the area with many different options, (hourly, daily, weekend, etc). These usually include meals and lodging dependent upon the ride. They will provide horses or you can bring your own. If you're interested look up Clear Creek Ranch or Cross Country Trailrides.
