A fair amount of VNN'ers own pets, ranging from cats and dogs to ferrets. I started this thread in case folks might post some pics of their pets.
This is my sidekick, Lord Gimli.

HAHAH nice picture. Hope he doesn't shed a lot with that long hair. Cats are stupid, arrogant, and virtually untrainable. They're worthless creatures, really, if you don't count their ability to catch rodents. That skill isn't so important if your house/building is clean enough.
Still, I can't help but like them. Don't know why :(
We have a little black cat named Nero. My girlfriend found him near her grandma's place in Arkansas before I knew her. Her dad called him "nigger" and she didn't care for that so he started calling him "negro" but that still wasn't PC enough i guess and you know how a lot of cat lovers want a cat to have an important name so "Nero" it is, now. He's part manx so he looks like a domesticated black bobcat. He likes to sit in the window and watch the nigger bums in the alley. They're far enough below that I guess they look like prey haha his head and eyes make those quick short movements like he's watching something he's about to pounce on. He's damn lazy and he eats a lot for his size.
I'll find my batteries and make a pic.

I don't think I'd have any other type of cat than this particular breed (Maine Coon) which is different than most other domestic cats.
They have an almost doglike personality, not aloof at all, although as other cat they are going to do what they want to do.
Every part of the cat is built for harsh New England weather. The only time I let him out is romp around in the snow. As far as fur they have a very fine fur, and sheds in clumps so it tends not to be a problem.

Was going to say, he reminded me of those norwegian forest cats. A neighbor has one of those and he looks like your Gimli there.

That's an old low quality pic of Nero, our Hate-Cat. Heheh he looks like he got run over or something, I'll take some new ones. I'll upload some pics of our Hate-fish and our Hate-turtle soon. We have some Hate-lizards too. They're anoles and they go bright green if you feed them ants.

Maines and Norwegians are very similar breeds.

The wife and I have a tabby, a blackie, a Siamese and a Maine Coon (who is very skittish).
I'll try to take a group photo of them.....and the question of hair....yes, the Maine Coon (or any longhair) sheds, hence why daily brushing minimizes the loose hair problem.

Nice pic. I like dogs, too, but just am partial to cats. Particularly the Maine Coon breed.

We have the dog, Mr. Ito who's in Stan's avatar, 2 red eared slider turtles, a baby snapping turtle and some ferrets. Right now we also are rehabbing 3 baby sparrows as well.
My dream pet? A mink. I just got back from Cleveland from visiting a friend of mine and she has a pet mink who would be a Blackglama coat if he weren't a spoiled housepet. He is the most intelligent animal I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Small like a cat, trainable like a dog, and clean, non-shedding and odorless.
He looks like this, hiding in a halloween decoration:

He's about 3x the size of a ferret with about 300x the intelligence. A truly breathtaking creature.

Best damn kittie picture ever!
You should send it to Rate my Kitten (http://www.ratemykitten.com/), see how many 10s it gets. And how long it stays up.
If you send it there, tell us so we can all go vote for it quickly.

Hey, if any of you guys have real monster carnivore type dogs, like Rotties, Shepherds, or pit bulls and want to feed them a regular diet of raw meat, and you live in the New England area, get in touch. I am supplying dog owners with rabbit meat.

We feed our dog a raw diet. The ferrets as well. Can you give me a shipping quote for about 20 pounds of (not completely dressed, and still furred) rabbit? Do you breed anything else for food? I am right now ordering day old chicks and young adult mice, but the shipping fees are SO NUTS with the hot weather.
:) Thanks!

I'm really more of a cat person myself. I'm still a little sad because my black kitty, Sambo, died two weeks ago of a respiratory infection. Being a bachelor in a rural area, he was my constant companion out here. He had the coolest most unique personality. I miss him.

My sweet tempered orange tabby. The best cat I have ever had. Rescued from a dumpster life and has been attached to me since that day. :)

This is our farm dog Dakota ... He is old ..... Tonight it was storming so the dogs came into the garage because they are scaredy cats :p ..... I was cleaning out my car and had the passenger side door open and the top was down. I've never allowed any animals in my car, but I left for like 30 seconds and then opened the door to find Dakota sitting in the driver's seat staring at me. So I decided to take this picture :p :p :p Silly dog! :p :p :p

Leopard Gecko (http://www.zoo.org/educate/fact_sheets/day/gecko.htm) (Eublepharis macularius) - Female
These are good-tempered animals and require very little time input in order to maintain. I've had this one for about six months.

My girl is big into geckos and she was trying the other day to get me to buy this one... it has holes in it's head and you can actually see in one side and out the other. You can look behind it's brain.
Not a very attractive beasty.
Here's a critter I wouldn't mind having, but I bet he's pretty expensive: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3433507052114896375 lyrebird mimics chainsaws, car alarms, and electric cameras
