These were taken from a helicopter over a lake in Ocala, central Florida area near Gainesville. That must have been some whicked hungry gator. That's the shock and awe... Gators are probably less dangerous compared to sharks out in the ocean. They are skiddish, and probably won't come anywhere near a 30'+ sailboat, unless you are throwing raw chicken overboard. Previous note is right, near the coast, no issue. There's been talk of saltwater crocs down in the keys and southwest coast of florida and such, but likely urban legend. Just make a ton of noise and if it looks questionable, don't dip!

I heard if you jump on an alligator's back and put it in a headlock it's as helpless as a baby :D Hehhehheh, just kidding.

It's too bad elephants and gorillas can't eat negros, cause that would be one way of helping their dwindling populations.
Feed the Freemasons to the jews, the jews to the Negorillas, the Negorillas to the lions, and you've done your part for Mother Earth.

Not urban legend at all; Florida has native populations of both the American alligator and the American crocodile.

The American alligator is very cool, they are all over the place here. The best place I've seen them is on the Hillsborough River while canoeing, although they are just about everywhere where water can be found.

Some decades ago they were on the endangered species list I believe, and made a miraculous comeback. We were the exclusive reason for their decline so once protective laws were enacted they resumed their dominance at the top of the food chain in their natural environment.

It must have been a blue moon, because I picked up the paper here, it read that a young man driving his chevy truck ran over a 7 ft gator north of morehead city, north carolina, killed it of course. Conservation officials disposed the animal, and quoted that there has been a resurgent growth population of alligators in the east coast areas of this state, and you know those gators will have their use as carrion cleaners.

They're no danger to canoes then? What if you would lose your balance and flip over, wouldn't they go after you? Yum, human with his feet stuck in a canoe, like meat on a stick it is.
