Soap the Easy and Natural Way.
To start off you will need the following
one large non stick pan
one wooden spoon
one cup of distilled water
*two cups of soap powder (Use a powder containing coconut and palm oils Eg Eco-Logic soap powder).
for a fresh soap, add 1ml of lavender oil and 1 to 2 teaspoons of rosemary leaves
for a soap that will help mature skin, use 1ml of geranium oil and one teaspoon of rose petals
for a medicated soap, use 1ml of tea tree oil
for an exotic soap, use ˝ml of ylang ylang oil and ˝ml of sandalwood oil, with 1 teaspoon of lavender flowers.
for an invigorating soap, use 1ml of bergamot oil and 1 teaspoon of ground apricot seeds.
*this is a safe guard against having a soap powder that has caustic soda, animal and/or vegetable fats and other additives that are harmful to sensitive skin and not very natural.
Lets get cooking
Bring the water to boil and add the soap powder slowly stirring all the time. The mix will become fairly solid, as soon as all the water and soap powder is blended, remove from the heat. Allow to cool for a while then add your choice of essential oils (and flowers/leaves/petals/ground apricot seeds). Make sure the mix is quite cool as the oils will evaporate if it is still too hot when you add them.
Once the oils are added, mix well. Shape, mould or roll your soaps and let them rest for about 5 days (depending on how thick you make them) turning them every day. It is best to keep them in well greased moulds or on greaseproof paper. Once your soaps are dry you are ready to offer them as gifts in nice little boxes or cellophane or add them to jars (if you made soap balls) or simply place them in the shower room ready for use. If you made a large batch and want to save some, place them in some firm tissue paper in a drawer or wardrobe to give the additional benefit of freshening your clothes and room.
Keep in mind if you have a pure soap that you use and trust, you can grate that into a pan to make up a NEW soap with your own blend of essential oils. I use 3 pound bars, of coconut and palm oils base soap..That i melt down .. I add many things to it, in furture posts i will give you more ideas
