Male fertility isn't what it used to be: sperm counts have halved in 50 years and disorders of the reproductive system are on the increase. What's causing the 'feminisation' of men?
In 1991, a Danish scientist presented the results of a study to a World Health Organisation conference, showing that the sperm counts of Western men had fallen by about a half over the previous 50 years. Professor Niels Skakkebaek of the University of Copenhagen could offer no explanation for the findings, but neither could he dismiss them as a mere statistical fluke. More than a decade later, scientists are still trying to explain the apparent feminisation of modern man.

Perhaps it has to do with living in a modern society. Every day, men are being exposed to radiation from electronics and other modern amenities. I've heard that the sperm count has been dropping ever since the start of the 20th century.

Probably. Doesn't help either that we eat so much food that has all sorts of hormones in it etc.
I have read somewhere that drinking coffee is good for sperm count as well as grapefruit juice.
Smoking and overeating processed foods are also culprits to low sperm count.
also, the more a man....well, never mind, let's just say the better :o

good point - i bet milk, even the 1% stuff, is full of estrogen.
my better half has stopped drinking milk and I have noticed he is more assertive lately.....hmmmm..........

I've thought for years that all of these hormones added to foods (especially poultry & diary - to increase the size of chicken breasts & to overstimulate milk & egg production) were lowering white fertility rates, and increasing the rates of breast, ovarian, and testicular cancer in humans (so not only is it lowering sperm count for men, but it's increasing abnoral pap smears for women, which leads to docotrs avocating hysterectomies - leaving them unable to bear children). All of these extra hormnones, and hormone-altering chemicals cannot be any good for us. This is just one reason why whites should be very careful of the foods they eat - it's more expensive, but you can buy "free range" & organically raised meats and dairy products that are supposed to be free of these hormones & additives.
There are lots of ways to raise sperm count - the most important being not smoking, eating a healthy diet, and exercising regularly. Also, drinking too much coffee causes an increase in abnormal sperm and decreases sperm motility, making the sperm less likely to fertilize an egg. There are also some herbal supplements that help raise fertility - zinc (3omg, taken with 1-3 mg of copper), lycopene, and arginine are supposed to be most effective, and Vitimans A C & E, coenzyme Q10, flaxseed oil, and ginseng (Panax & Siberian) are also reccomended by some herbalists. There are also prescription meds that can increase sperm count, if a medical problem exists. Other things that lower sperm count are drug use (tobacco & marijuana included), use of steroids & OTC supplements that affect hormone levels, infections & STDs, hormone imbalances (usually problems with Thyroid or pituitary or hypothalamus glands), or other medical problems - most of these are either avoidable and/or treatable.

My older brother used to have a condition called Gynomastica that caused him to grow large, female type breasts ! Part of his treatment was to cut way down on dairy products and not to eat ANY storebought chicken. I know you think I'm pulling your leg but it really worked to get him back to normal.

Did an MD link dairy and store-bought poultry to his condition? He may have located a decent Dr. Cutting and pills are all most of them know.

You know, I've heard this before....
Interesting.
For people trying this (esp men) don't substitute Soy Milk for Dairy Milk because soy actually produces estrogen in men as well.
I am going to try this for a bit, it will be hard since I like milk so damn much (along with cheeses, ESP pizza).
I will let you know how it goes.
Consider me a guinea pig of sorts (insert joke here).
Now I don't have gyno or any other kind of problem detailed in this thread, but I want to see how I feel after eliminating most of the dairy from my diet.

Oh they did the pill thing also but it all was part of an overall treatment. I could ask him more details but understandably he doesn't talk about it much.

That reminds me of when I was 12 or 13, circa 1980-81, and I got drilled by a football directly on my left chest area during a game with the neighborhood gang, which I think broke a bone since it hurt like hell for months, but, anyways, it swelled up to approximately an A-cup.
Boy, did I ever get goofed on by the other guys. Hahaha!

I'm sure wishing GOOD LUCK to an Irish man is a bit of redundant, however - I'm glad to read that you are going to remove dairy from your diet - let us know the results!!!

It is hard to eat no dairy....
I did eat a bit of cheese today, but I guess a tiny bit isn't going to be too bad.
I found free range chicken at the health food store.....10 dollars a friggin pound...
So I went to a farm and bought some boobs with no hormones added. 4 bucks a poound.

I love cheese - how about aged cheese like Brie, Gouda, Bleu, I wonder if that is less hormonal than processed American cheese??
<sarcastic tone on>only 10 bucks a lb? </sarcastic tone>
bought some boobs? Chicken I take it? Are you going to eat eggs? I wonder if they are affected?

You can buy eggs with no hormones in them......
They cost a little more though. "EggLands Best" is the name.
You can find them right next to the other's. They come in a clear container and they are brown.
I doubt though that a small grocer would carry them.....You might have to go to one of the more costly grocers to get them...........Kroger or some place like that..
