Dont know about the soda bottle, but if you put your hand over the end of the muzzle and shoot through your hand it ought to work great. About one shot is all most people can stand. A variation on this method is sticking your finger tightly in the bore before firing, or pressing the muzzle against your arm and shooting through it.

While it's not illegal to talk about bombs and silencers and such, we prohibit those discussions at this forum. Talk of normal lawful gun stuff is fine, but talk of unlawful use of firearms is where we draw the line.
