NY DAILY NEWS...RUSH AND MOLLOY
Is Derek Jeter ready to make a play for Anna Kournikova?
The Bronx Bomber has been keeping the tennis bombshell amused while Enrique
Iglesias, her on-and-off boyfriend, has been on tour. The Yankee captain and
the Russian beauty appeared cozy at Miami's Metro Kitchen + Bar in the Astor
Hotel.
"They arrived together and left together," a spy tells us. "They were with a
group of people, but they sat next to each other all night."
"They looked like a couple to me," says another.
Jeter, who welcomed Alex Rodriguez to the team on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium,
flew down to Miami later that day to join the fun at Tommy Puccio's weekly
party, where other revelers included sexpot Anna Nicole Smith, heavyweight
champ Lennox Lewis, singer Taylor Dayne and "America's Most Wanted" host John
Walsh. The hunky shortstop, 29, and his center court companion, 22, pulled up
to the hotel a little before midnight. "They stayed late," says one spy.
Jeter was free to do the town with Anna, since he wasn't obliged to show up at
Yankees' Tampa training camp the next day. The two sports divinities have been
getting to know each other since at least last August, when she threw out the
first pitch at a Yankees game.
Iglesias, 28, was reported to have given Kournikova a $110,000 "friendship"
ring last month. They also hooked up in January for a Caribbean vacation.
But a few weeks later, Aussie model-actress Emma Kearney told Britain's News of
the World that she'd had a sizzling romp with Iglesias in a bathroom.
A spokeswoman for Iglesias declined comment.
Reps for Kournikova and Jeter didn't return calls.
