Recently somebody had three derogatory lists of other VNN users in his signature line. In the past, people have occasionally had derogatory comments about other VNN users in their posts as well. True or false, I'd like to clarify moving forward, that we don't allow derogatory comments about other users in signature lines. Not trying to suppress discussions of any subjects whatsoever, but if you're going to have a debate, dont do it in your signature line.

We'll give some time for people to voluntarily clean up their sig lines as this has not been a big issue in the past.

For some reason I did too. Not really sure why as I haven't posted much on the slumlord threads. Perhaps it was because I suggested that Billys reason for the shopwhite users, credit card numbers getting "hacked" could not possibly be believed by any sane, rational person in the known universe. Now that we have had this request up all week and had no voluntary compliance we have implemented the following.

User Billwhite's signature line has had the derogatory comments removed.

Also, user Invisible Umpire's spoof quote of another user has been removed as well.

I caution users who are tempted to do this sort of thing to follow the rule or we will implement progressive discipline. Starting with, involuntary editing of your sig line, and then progressive to short term bannings, followed by permanent banning for repeat violations.

Starting with you, who've flamed me tons of times, but only a short 2 day token slap on the wrist for an obstinate fellow such as you who is for all your obstreperousness, a valued senior VNNer, a month for Uppinatta, who has earned many complaints of late, Greundigval, for two months, who in all his posts has merely continued the flames of a past banned user-- hopefully he'll straighten out when he gets back-- and finally, at least a year for Anarchy Bill who's called several senior VNNers "rapists and murderers."
