I'm old fashioned, and must go with the Liebstandarte AH for going so far in such a short time. From 'asphalt soldiers' to not only the real thing, but the best soldiers ever, probably. Maybe the Roman army at its height could go toe to toe with them, metaphorically speaking, but other than that, I can't think of any fighting men who even come close for discipline as well as skill.
