Tomatos are alright. I don't like them raw but after some processing or cooking, they're welcome on any dish.

I just find them so watery. Almost like a tasteless melon unless processed somehow.

Ketchup is great, as long as it isn't Heinz. That's a jew brand. But you will notice the U or K symbols prominently on EVERY last bottle of the red stuff. Downright annoying.

All in all a very versatile vegetable. Or fruit. But unless sweetened, very bland.

I've gotta say I love tomatoes. One for the tomatoes!

People are used to those bland greenhouse tomatoes here. They even eat them while still green.
I like those aromatic ones sprinkled with garlic salt. Raw tomatoes crushed on noodles I find also tasty. I prefer them past the point where others would start throwing them away. I like them dark red :mad:

I could see not eating most store bought tomatoes plain. Hell, I'll remove the tomatos from fast food burgers almost every time as they almost invariably suck. But, if you grow your own and know aht you're doing, they can be great. My grandmother has a huge garden in her backyard and grows a large number of tomatoes, they are always excellent.

I agree with the post above. If all I was ever exposed to was those fleshy tomatos you buy at a grocery store, then I would probably say I hated tomatos too. They are just bland.

I grew up with large quantities of homegrown tomatoes right in my backyard, and I love fresh salsa with lots of different peppers,onions, and herbs. When it comes to raw tomatoes, sliced, diced or any other way I will not go near and my family thinks I'm crazy. Between the bitter taste and that awful smell, gooey consistency you won't find me eating them unless greatly disguised. We all have different taste buds :)

Grow your own or find someone who does, and buy/obtain them off them. They'll grow anywhere, and grow well, given enough water, heat, and manure. As disturbing as it sounds, the more shit you feed them, the better they taste.

You might not notice any acidity from sun-dried tomatoes jarred in oil. I used to glass pre-dried tomatoes in vegetable oil together with garlic cloves

Tomatoes good, very good. You can sometimes even get something edible out of the pathetic tomatoes sold in the big chain supermarkets. They usually have stacks of different varieties. Choose from the pile of tomatoes that has the most variance. Choose tomatoes slightly green. Take them home and let them finish ripening on a window sill that gets lots of morning sun. Never freeze or refrigerate tomatoes.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But, it is your best shot at getting a good tomato out of the supermarket. Of course, growing your own is far better.

Grandpa had "beefsteak", "Jetstar", and "roma" tomatoes in the garden. The first two are ok, they're like those big watery tomatoes you get sliced on a burger. Romas are something else though. You can eat one right off the vine and it's almost spicey. They're small but they're rich.

A pretty good simple snack is a fresh sliced tomato, sprinkled with white vinegar and salt and pepper.

Are Tomatoes used in Campbell's Soup? - the bright orange viscuous stuff in a tin labelled as Tomato Soup does not taste of anything resembling a tomato.

I'd be careful not to spill any of that soupstuff within the vicinity of your wife's vagina, in case the adulterating funny colored stuff was added in after cooking of the soup at the cannery

We always grow tomatos but we don't eat them raw. We use them for chili, soups, and spaghetti sauce and give them away to people without gardens. I love the way they make my garden smell--the plants have a very strong, sweet aroma.

Ripe home-grown, vine ripened tomatoes are especially great on bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches.

However, it is a scientific and medically proven fact that everyone who has eaten tomatoes is going to die.

My mom likes fried green tomatos. She rolls them in cornmeal & flour and fries them in butter. Sounds & smells good, but I never cared much for 'em.
