Students accused of attacking teacher

When the daughter of a veteran teacher took the podium at Albany's Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, the room went silent.

"My mother was attacked by four plus students here at this school," said Mary Ingram.

Ingram's mother, Johnsi Ingram, taught 9th and 10th grade English at Albany High for 32 years until December 23, when her daughter said four students turned against her.

"They held her by her neck and her shoulders, and they kind of had her intertwined," said Ingram.

Ingram told Capital News 9 that two boys and two girls told her mother that they wanted to give her a Christmas present. She said they cornered Johnsi Ingram in her classroom and put her in a headlock. And now, the 60-year-old said she's done with teaching.

"She can barely walk. She still has nightmares every night. She has difficulty breathing, and she's not doing well at all," said Ingram.

The students apparently left the classroom, cheering about what happened in the hallway. The principal and school security turned the incident over to police who then charged the students with unlawful imprisonment and harassment. One of the students was also arrested on weapons charges after police found him carrying a knife. So far, police have released the names and mugshots of the two girls who were arrested -- Laquetta Alexander and Debbony Moore.

The students have been suspended, but Mary Ingram said even if what happened was a prank, she's asking for more action from school leaders.

Albany Central School District Superintendent Dr. Eva Joseph said, "There was information that was presented this evening by her daughter that was some details that I was not fully aware of, so obviously it's a matter that is concerning to us and that we will be following up on to make sure that all the bases are covered."

Four students have been suspended from school and are facing charges that they attacked an Albany High School teacher in her classroom.

Ingram said her mother was hospitalized and is now on disability. She also told Capital News 9 that Johnsi Ingram has no plans to return to the school.

It seems 1 out of every 20 teachers has been physically attacked in this negroid school system.

This is the only incident the press will cover, and they call it "an alleged restraint of the teacher" or some stupid term that doesn't convey physical assault or terrorization, you might say. They pussyfoot so that people know something is wrong, but not exactly what.
