I thought this movie well illustrated many NS points of view. The tension between Steiner, personally courageous, a true folkish hero if there ever was one, and the Von Stauffenberg Prussian officer type, a faker, was hard to forget.
Any comments?

Cross of Iron is one of my favorite war movies. The uniforms may not be accurate, but the weapons used are. Nice to see the MP40 and the Russian PPSH41 featured in a movie. One of the few WW2 movies that portrays the Germans as humans the other would be Das Boot of course.

James Coburn is God! AE, I totally agree about the true folkish combat leader portrayed by Coburn. A man who in NS literature is admired by his men and whom they will "Follow into the jaws of hell itself". Amazing movie. As stated above, The hardcore 70's 'tashes and burns take a little getting used to.
