I finally got off my ass this weekend and planted some onion bulbs. Also, I re-planted my peppers which I had growing indoors that weren't doing so well. (These peppers: http://www.vnnforum.com/showthread.php?t=26802 ) And I tilled up another part of the garden to get rid of the weeds and get it ready for other plants. I'm new to this, it being only the second year which I have had a food-producing garden (and with nobody to teach me), so my descriptions are probably fairly weak... :o
Anyway...
I felt a huge change in me yesterday (Sat.) after only an hour or so outside. My energy level quadrupled and my spirits rose! I now have much more desire to clean up the house and (at least start to) clear out my queue of things that should have been done already. I actually think I did get some of it done this weekend.
It is only recently that I have realized how the seasons affect me, for better or for worse. But now it seems that it isn't so much the seasons, rather my willingness to go along with the land and its cycles which affects my being. Allowing myself to become a part of it, even in small measure, has affected me in ways I can't describe...
So, in closing, I suggest that you get off your ass and get your hands dirty!

Concrete kills the soul. You will feel better in many ways. By getting out and working in your garden you will not only have the sense of pride by not eating things pawed all over by spics and paying a Jew owned store to sell you chemical tainted vegetables. You should also be more calm and pleasant to be around. I have two gardens I work. The large 3 acre one I posted pics of last year and a small one outside my house I work to relax. Sometimes I get out t 3 am and work bare foot in my garden. Walking around bare foot in fresh soil will do wonders for your health.
The larger garden your raise the more pride you will have and the more self-sufficient you will become. There is also a feeling of comfort knowing you won’t starve or have to loot if society collapses around you.

Without giving too much away about my location/micro-climate in the garden:
The edibles I am growing include Pineapples, Tomatoes, Onions, Dates (Palms), Mint, Garlic cloves, Thyme, Marjoram (or Oregano as itz known in the USA), Basil, , and old English Marigold - the later item for olde English salads to accompany Tansy pudding, bletted Medlars and Quince.
Non - edibles I have underway include Aloe Vera.
Get gardening. Its good for the soul.

A 3-acre garden? Ho-lee. Where can I find your pictures of this that you posted? Is it you alone, or does someone help you?
Keep up with your garden, Joe6Pack. Everything you say is so true.
How can we know that gardening is just the greatest? Take a look at what groups do NOT garden...

A 1948 tractor and my 71-year-old dad help me. I can’t find it now since the forum name changes but search for “post pictures of your garden” by me. I had 2 pictures when I first planted it last year.

Don't worry about it. The NSA knows exactly who and where you are.

He's probably worried they are going to bust him for making illegal Tansy pudding.

well, brother, i don't know about that. suffice to say, anyone who thinks this is anonymous probably also thinks the Allies never broke the German or Japanese war codes. Breaking codes is what the NSA does. If it is electronic They listen, world wide. Not that I care because I don't. Nothing illegal going on in my life other than constant and unremitting thought crime, but that is still constitutionally protected so they can bite me.

Today my wife and I went out to the garden again, around 6:00pm. We worked a small amount of some fertilizer into the soil, commercial stuff 34-0-0. We could have gotten some chickenshit for free but my wife was worried about it stinking - I was worried about the hormones and diseases it might harbor.
I planted some corn and she planted radishes, which supposedly grow very quickly. We haven't tried the radishes before but last year I did plant corn - all of it either blew over in high winds or got eaten by bugs. Any suggestions for either of those?
Also, last year I planted some potatoes and sweet potatoes. The potatoes were not seed potatoes, but just store bought ones which had started growing. They didn't do so well. The sweet potatoes, also store bought, grew very well and the deer liked them too. I found that urinating on the sweet potato vines kept the deer from eating them (a trick I heard marijuana farmers use).
We have several different varieties of tomatoes and peppers sprouting right now - they are probably what we will plant next. Both of those did very well last year, especially the cherry tomatoes and the jalapenos.
My wife has been stressed out from work and getting down in the dirt has helped her somewhat. It was the first thing that I wanted to do after leaving my job. I forgot all my problems right away. It sure is better than immediately cracking open a beer and sitting in front of the computer all night. And I sleep better too.
