Oh no! Not another bible-belt xtian. Christ kill me, gimme a break. AE and Hal Turner, Catholic Christ worshippers. Jeebus, we're surrounded by 'em. Do you watch Sopranos also? Do you also agree with Hal's complaints about his beloved televitz program?

actually I'm not Catholic although I go there at least quarterly. and I live in the midwest. I havent watched sopranos in years but I liked the ones I saw.

Excellent with post-dinner cigar.

I'm normally not much of a free-trader, but one early success was the British practice of importing sherry and port from the Iberians, drinking the contents as aperitif and digestif, respectively, and then using the casks to age Scotch, a more substantial libation.

I like Cragganmore but somebody just gave me a bottle of MacAllan. I'm going to sample that on Easter. That and a bottle of Rioja.

For German beer available stateside, I prefer Warsteiner. Gold foil label, tall bottles. Has a really malty taste. Distro of this brand getting better all the time, too.

Its fucking horrible. The pine resin almost takes the skin off your tongue. Trust me, I have the qualifications, Retsina is shit!

Sid.

absolutely. the greeks put resin in the wine to keep turks from stealing it. this has to be one of the all time wierdest stories because it would keep any normal humanoid from drinking it. talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face.

I'm with Georgie and Dr. Antichrist on going without booze. I even cut out the smoking, which was harder than the drinking for me at least.

Water is good. You should try and get more water from fresh raw fruits, they have plenty of water and contain all the nutrition you need.

Exactly the way I felt for years. The bad dream has become a good one for me though, and I'm never going back. I don't make as big a deal about it anymore because I've benefited from it for so long. The only drawbacks I see is that I don't share meals with other people as often, though I can bring my own food if I need to.

In fact, I've adapted to a fruitarian diet that is a bit more strict than what Klassen recommended. I've stopped mixing fruits, I only eat one type of fruit at a time and then I wait at least an hour an a half before eating a different fruit. I first read about it on this
fruitarian (www.fruitarian.com) site. I have much better digestion of raw food if I don't mix them like I did for the first year or so.

I picked up a good book call Natures Frist Law the rawfood diet. It is a good book and has the facts and proof of why it is right. A good site is www.rawfood.com. They have books on everthing from eating raw to gain muscle to raw eating guides.

When I frist started it I felt like shit as my body went though detoxication. But now I have no more cravings for cooked. And the good I have experinced alone are worth it for me. Cooked food is addictive and deadly.

I'm guessing you were having some serious er, bowel movements. What are the benefits you have experienced? Could you describe them please?

I'am never sick my injuries heal alot quicker.I have not brushed my teeth in along time because I do not need to there always white. I shocked my denist with that one he thought that I must have brushed three times a day. I never get bad breath. And I used to be very moody and violent and did not think twice about hurting someone for makeing me annoyed. But now that is gone and I can control my emotions and Iam not moody any longer. But upbeat and happy. etc

Drank about half and couldn't stand it anymore, switched over to a Pilsner.

I drink slightly, maybe 2-3 times a month. Did you pour that can into a glass? Drinking Guinness from the can is real gross. If anyone likes Guinness you should try Mississippi Mud, very good stuff.

There's a kind of Dutch booze that tastes like rancid herring. You probably wouldn't like that, either.

I used to drink when I was in college, but I guess that's because everybody else was doing it. The ROTC teachers would encourage social drinking but punish a cadet who got visibly drunk. One guy got expelled from the cadet corps when he attempted to drive home after a party where he had been drinking. The party had been held at the house of the Cadet Commander (the student with the highest cadet rank): he got expelled too, but very formally, in a procedure called getting "drummed out."

After college, I didn't drink much. I just never liked getting a buzz enough to put up with the loss of dexterity, judgment, and ability to concentrate my thinking. I made mead as a hobby for a while, but I still have several bottles left from my 2001 batch.

Mead is generally similar in taste to sweet wine. The taste can vary on the details of how you brew it. The less you rack (siphon) the mead off the lees (dead yeast at bottom of the vat), the more of a tangy bite will be in the final drink...but you can overdo this and cause a harsh taste.

I made a great, thick melomel mead with honey and prune juice once. It was much better than I thought it would be.

Beer is always the best choice. :p It doesn't seem to give as nasty of a hangover as other harder drinks do. And usually with beer it is a lot easier to determine how much you can drink without getting sick.

You can avoid the nasty hangovers by replenishing your electrolytes before you fall in bed dead, err, I mean unconscious.

By drinking plenty of water and augmenting this with an sports drink containing electrolytes, you can generally avoid those unwanted hangovers. There's even pills you can buy if you're interested go here (http://www.hangoverstopper.com/).

I have never tried drinking something like a sports drink with water. I have heard the thing about drinking just water though, and I have tried that and that does not seem to work so well for me. I have heard some people say that eating before you go to bed helps, maybe for obvious reasons, but that makes you fat.

As for taking some pill to prevent a hangover, that seems a little strange to me and I don't like to put strange pills in my body.

Also, I make sure to take some Advil before bed. I hadn't heard the sports drink idea before, but I'll give it a try. It does make sense that it would be helpful, since a big part of being hungover has to do with the dehydration that the alcohol causes, and one of the main purposes of sports drinks is to keep you hydrated.

Advil before you go to bed, that really works all them hours later? I usually do take a couple of advils before I start drinking to prevent any headaches while I am drinking, but I never really thought of taking any right before I went to bed. I couldn't imagine drinking a glass of water for every drink, that alone would make me sick, not to mention all the trips to the bathroom. :p

Beer does taste nasty, but it gets a lot better after you have had a couple. I think the opposite seems to be true with other alcoholic drinks, they start to taste more nasty as you drink more. Especially drinks like strawberry daquiris(really bad spelling, I know :( ),which taste really good at first, and then they just get sickening so quickly.
