My tower bit the dust finally after a prolonged illness, so I have a new one now and I sure miss my (free version) Opera Browser. I can't stand the Internet Explorer after using Opera. Before I go and download it again, does anyone else have any recommendations for a handy web browser? I like Opera cause I can load a seperate page when looking for pics or something without losing the page I am on. What I remember about Netscape was that it was pretty simular to IE. The free version of Opera is fine, but I wonder if IT was what corrupted my old tower. Any suggestions?

At least on the Mac, Opera has gone completely free. I don't know about the Windows version. Windows users tend to rave about Opera--I doubt it was what caused your problems.

Firefox is best with the Adblock and NoScript plugins. I can't even stand to look at web sites without Adblock now that I'm used to seeing pages that aren't cluttered with annoying ads.

Thanks for all the advice. I downloaded Firefox, but haven't messed with it much. Being the creature of habit that I am, I downloaded Opera again. I see that they now offer it totally free without ads. Its the little tabs at the top and the ability to open a new page in a new window that I like about Opera. I will look at Firefox when I get a chance. Perhaps I am missing a simular feature on it that allows a new page in a new window.

Firefox has tabbed browsing and can open new tabs in the same window or a tab in a new window and you can move tabs around to put them in any order you want . Have fun :)
