Oswald Mosley is one of the most important figures in the history of European politics and Fascism in particular . He was stead fast in his views and stood by his comrades and friends through thick and thin most of who stood by him . He had an impecable character and his honesty was respected by friends and feared by his foes . He gave his all for his nation and his race . He was a real British nationalist , he respected the freedom of other European countries without compromising his own nationalism and tried to unite Europe to fight the twin foes of Communism and Capitalism .
When the war of Irish Independence was in full swing reports began to reach Britian about the terrible activities of the British Army , in particular the Black and Tans the Auxilaries and the Essex Regimnent . They were above the law and had a free hand to do as they pleased in their fight against the Irish which included rape , arson , theft , terrorism , imprionisnment , intimidation of innocents and cold blooded murder . Mosley had served in the First World War with the British Army , saw and experienced all the horrors of war and was shocked by what he had heard , comparing the atrocities to scenes from dark age Europe . His former comrades in arms were acting and treating the Irish people like the beasts of the fields . He could not believe British soldiers could act in such a beastly and barbaric way , he said their actions were of ' gross illegality and injustice '. He would constantly bring up the subject of British atrocities in the house of commons only to be heckeled by his own party members and booed by other MPs who would destroy Ireland but he persisted in his fight against injustice . He wanted a full investigation into the actions of the British Army , he said ' ... a special auxilary force had been recuited...to break the spirit of the Irish people by systematic terror reinforced with full licence to commit individual crimes ... as the evidence accumulated there was no possible doubt of the main charges ' he later said that the war crimes ' ... urgently required investigation '. In far away India at the same time Irishmen , all volunteer soldiers in the British Army , received accounts from home of atrocities committed against their people by the Black and Tans staged a mutiny in protest . The patriots were from the Connaught Rangers , one of the best regiments in the histioy of the British Army , nick-named the Devils Own because of their fearsome reputation and bravery in battle . The mutiny was viciously put down and the ringleaders executed , many other mutineers were shipped back to England in chains to languish in filthy prison cells . One of the Rangers was Englishman Sergent Woods who won the DCM in France sided with the rebels , when asked by an officer ' what had Ireland to do with him ? ' he replyed ' these lads fought with me for England now I am fighting with them for Ireland '. The episode in India disturbed Mosley greatly and sickened by the Concertive Partys lack of intrest in what was going on in Ireland he resigned from the party and crossed the floor of the house to sit on the Labour benches as an Independent MP. He said ' I crossed the floor in October 1920 ... it became impossible to gain a hearing on my side . So I preferred to face my enemies rather than be surrounded by them '. Oswald Mosley was the founder of the Committee for Peace with Ireland which wanted to bring an end to the occupation of Ireland and end the centuries old conflict . There is no doubt that Oswald Mosley and later the British Union of Fascists supported Irish nationalism and Irish unity .
In later years Oswald made no secret of his support for Irish nationalism and his admiration of Michael Collins who he often spoke of with respect and regard , he wrote that ' ... the Irish had learnt much about guerrilla fighting under the brilliant leadership of Michael Collins '. As a soldier he understood why the Irish Volunteers used guerilla warfare ' How else can they fight our overwhelming force ? If they stand up to us in the open they haven't got a chance '. He referred to the Irish Volunteers / IRA as ' ...Michael Collins and the boys '. Mosley was visably shocked when he heard about the killing of 14 British intelligence agents , known as the Murder Gang , one sunny Sunday morning in November 21st 1920 and had this to say ' The large majority of the Irish guerrillas on the other side were idealists in the highest degree and few among them were there for any advantage of plunder or ignobel motive of revenge ... the men who did this ... spent the previous evening praying together in a chapel like medieval knights on a vigil before battle '. The day was later to be known as Bloody Sunday when , as an act of cold blooded murder and slaughter , Auxilaries surrounded Croke Park in Dublin city and fired into the crowd gathered to watch a football match killing and maiming scores of men women and children . Some years later a high ranking officer of the Auxiliaries divulged that they could not make up their minds weather to burn and sack O'Connell Street or raid the football match , with a toss of the Kings shilling Croke Park Lost .
When news of the Treaty between the Irish and British governments reached Mosley he was overjoyed it was the peace that he had waited for . What he said later speaks for itself ' May those who fought a lonely battle for this great cause in the early days of contumely and vilification be inspired by the fresh vindication of their principles , to march forward in the service of humanity and peace to yet greater victories of the future '. During the Second World War Mosley and his Blackshirts were considered enemies and traitors by the British despite many of them joining the army to fight for king and country . Under a new law 18B anybody considered a threat to the British state were interned in prison camps around the country , many Blackshirts , IRA men and Irish Republicans were interned together and got along famously during their time spent at His Majesties Pleasure . The BUF also brought out a Union Movement Policy Pamphlet titled ' Irelands Right To Unite '. In 1970 Mosley said ' The division of Ireland is wrong . It should end as soon as possible...It is bad for Catholics in the north as they are denied full civil rights and social justice by the controlling Protestants '.
Many Irish people living in England joined the British Union of Fascists not only because they supported fascism but because of the stance Mosley took in Irish independence and freedom . T.P. O'Connor who Mosley described as ' ... the grand old Nationalist MP ' was an Irish Nationalist MP form Galway who represented Liverpool , a journalist author and newspaper-man he was an avid supporter of Mosley and the BUF and their policies . He said Oswald Mosley ' ... would always be regarded by every good Irishman with appreciation and gratitude . I regard him as the man who realy began the break up of the ' Black and Tan ' savagery ; and I never recall without admiration and wonder , the courage and self-sacrifice with such an attitude demanded on his part '. County Solicitor of Tralee J.D. O'Connell wrote to Mosley ' I remember with gratitude the noble work then done by your colleagues and your good self during the reign of terror of the ' Black and Tans ' in this country . The people of Kerry , who were the most to suffer appreciate it too and I can assure you that your good name will be remembered here long after those who try to belittle you will be clean forgotten ... we in this country have been called nasty names and we have experience of internment camps and so we understand your position , but one thing that can be said for them ( the Irish ) is that they are always grateful to anyone who ever helped them or said a kind word for them in their need and trouble '.
Oswald Mosley more than anyone else understood what it was to be a patriot and a nationalist . Being a White nationalist is not about the enslavement and subjugation of another nation or race its about the love of ones own Race and Nation and doing whatever you can for it no matter how small for your Folk , in Mosleys case it was England in our case Ireland . He loved England and what he wanted it to stand for , but the England that he knew was rapidly going down the sewer . He had seen thousands of his countrymen slaughtered on the battle-fields of Europe and Asia , the name of the Britian he loved had died in the the muddy fields of France with his fallen comrades and he didn't want to see more die for a country that was not theirs . As a point of intrest more southern Irishmen and members of the Irish Volunteers joined up to fight in the First World War than did northern Irish Orangemen and Unionsts / Loyalists . He knew Ireland did not belong to him or his people he wanted a friendship with the Irish people not to shackle them . All through his life he knew when it was time to stand up and be counted . His views and those of the BUF of a united Ireland did not make him any less British if anything it made him more patriotic because he wanted to right the wrongs done by his country . His pro-Irish views will not make him popular with anti-Irish elements within the British nationalist movement today who seem to be anti-Irish so as not to upset or offend their pro-Zionist pro-Jewish pro-Israeli drug dealing brothers in the six counties of occupied Ulster . He had a love for the Irish and owned property here as opposed to stealing it as his fore-fathers had done before . When staying here he was often seen in the Shelbourne Hotel on St. Stephens Green in Dublin taking tea with friends and comrades from both England and Ireland . What ever your views are on Ireland Oswald Mosley deserves all credit due to him and his Blackshirts for slowing down the wave of multi-culturalism , liberalism , Communism and Capitalism that washed over his Green and Plesant Land . All Hail Oswald Mosley .
